LONDON--Microsoft\'s Xbox games console is \'\'finished,\'\' Ken Kutaragi, president of Sony Computer Entertainment, told the Financial Times.

\'\'Microsoft was finished before it even got started,\'\' Kutaragi said. \'\'They have no games\'\' and \'\'retailers in the US are already disappointed.\'\'

Kutaragi\'s comments reflect a change in opinion among analysts since Microsoft demonstrated Xbox at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles last week.

Before the exhibition, most analysts thought Xbox would be more powerful than Sony\'s PlayStation and Nintendo\'s GameCube.

The Xbox\'s 16 games \'\'were just extensions of PC games,\'\' Shunji Yamashina, a games analyst at Societe Generale, told the FT.

\'\'Nobody needs to buy an Xbox.\'\'

The fact that he calls Jet Grind Radio Future, Project Ego, Project Gotham, Project K-X, Malice, etc. Extensions of PC games shows how much an opinion by him really matters. Gimme a break Sony.

Is it just me, or did anyone else detect just a hint of arrogance in that quote? My opinion of Ken Kuteragi has just gone down quite a few notches. This comment was not needed.

I wonder why we haven\'t heard anything from Phil Harrison in the past few months? That guy was smooth talker and usually knew his **** before he opened his mouth.

I didn\'t know Kutaragi worked for EA or Working Designs. Hmmm, how else would you explain the arrogance and stupidity of this statement?

As I said FUD.He\'s trying to scare people away from the X-Box.Not everyone keeps as close an eye on consoles as we do,and when they hear stuff like \'\'They have no games\'\' and \'\'retailers in the US are already disappointed.\'\' it sticks in their minds,the Playstation is a known label but the X-Box isn\'t.

This has been used by MS a number of times.Most people have heard about Windows,but not everyone has heard about Linux.That\'s why MS can get away with making bad remarks about Linux.

What can\'t the dumbass be supportive. J. Allard was very excited about Gamecube coming out before Xbox. But hey, Japanese Buisness men are notoriously conservative and competative.

Allard:..........Yeah, that rocks. GameCube launching days before our box.

Kutaragi:.......Yeah Xbox is sunk..haha.

Well I belive that the x-box is history. Nobody here in Sweden is interested in it. MS has a bad reputation.
And if you think that people are going to pay 299$ for the x-box when GC stands next for 199$ and PS2 for 249$ or 199$.
299$in  US is in Sweden like 450$. People thinks that the PS2 is expensive here (399.99$), well the x-box will cost that to, the difference is that nobody knows what a x-box is.

. Nobody here in Sweden is interested in it.

So what, sweden hardly makes up any of the gamming community.
