i think the big thing is i am a story nut and n64 versions didnt have that as well as the other zeldas on snes and gameboy

Sorry, but I have to totally disagree with you on this on.

Being in 3D gave it so much more. I\'ve played LttP recently, the feeling of greatness is there, but I just feel so damn clostrophobic(sp) while playing it. It was so small, still miles better than 99% of the games released though.

But in 3D the worlds are just so effing huge. The gameplay is there, only dramatically improved with innovative techniques such as Z-targetting. It didn\'t feel small, it\'d take you 1 minute to travel the lands in LttP but in OOT it would take you x10 of that(without using Epona and warping of course)! You felt so free playing it, which was a good thing.

MM had some innovations too. The mask system was utterly brilliant. Let\'s see a 2D Zelda game utilize the Zora, Deku, and Goron mask as perfectly as MM did. :)

The puzzles also had more depth in 3D and puzzles is basically the center of gameplay in the Zelda series.

And as for the stories being better with the 2D versions...not possible really. Link\'s Awakening virtually had NO story at all and LttP basically had the exact same story as OOT. The story never played a key part in the Zelda series anyways.

I don\'t want to bash your opinions here, but Zelda is simply better off in 3D.

I forsee a long development time for Zelda to getall this just right

It\'s already been in development for pretty long actually. They\'ve been working on it before last year\'s SpaceWorld. They said they had the characters models fully ready not to long after. It comes out fall 2002 so that\'s over 2 years of development. Plenty of time to perfect it.

I don\'t know about the rest of you, but I WANT a learning curve. I WANT to have to spend 1 or 2 hours mastering the controls. I WANT this to be a difficult game.

I agree with that 100%. I love trying to learn all the controls of a game and having to take hours to master it.
I\'ve always thought it would be cool to use a joystick for sword fighting but I could see why it would be hard to incoparate it into a game. I\'m definitly excited about this game

And I have to disagree with you there. :)  IMO, the best Zelda was Zelda 1 on the NES.  No other Zelda has been as fun as that one.

Lets see a 10 year old get these controls. This probably a little more for the T+ than E. Think of the multiplayer you could have sword fighting with your friends

Yes, that worried me too. Great games are built around great stories. The control sounds nice though.

MGS2\'s story is being made up as Kojima goes along developing it.  Hell, originally in the first MGS, the Ninja was just a project his lead artist was working on in his free time and because Kojima thought he looked so cool, they gave him a serious roll in the plot.  Kojima even goes as far as creating scenes for the music that his producers send him.  If they produce a kickass tune, Kojima creates a new scene to match it.  Now that\'s working on the fly...

I think you would be surprised.  10 year olds are pretty good at video games now-a-days, and after learning the controls with Luigi\'s Mansion, they shouldn\'t have too much trouble picking up the controls for Zelda.

Ryu, I didn\'t know that.  MGS1 had one of the best story lines in a video game ever. :)  I hope Mimimamamomo can do the same.

Errr I hate the little game players.... There was a 6 year old girl, who was playing GT3A at BestBuy, the whole time I was there:rpissed: I just about yelled at her to go play something else, you are not worthy.;) But its a good thing too, that I didn\'t play it. I might have bought a PS2:eek:

well again

I agree with ya\'s I want games that require some skill and take time to master, but we\'re different then the majority of console gamers out there who either don\'t have the time or desire to invest mega hours into the hobby and just want to blow through a game with moderate challenges

The question remains, Will Zelda appeal like it has if its extremly difficult, or will they really be innovative and make this control scheme easier then thought possible. In which case the clones will flow. I\'m assumiong Nintendo will have innovation here in the way the scheme is designed to be easier to learn.

Having 2 sticks control a sword and a shield is easier to do on modern consoles.
I myself always wondered about this exact control scheme. SO to me the scheme itself in not innovative in this sense even though it has not appeared in any game to date. For me The innovation comes form taking this complex scheme and making it viable for a possible 5+ million seller appealing to all demographics. Zelda is a huge franchise and its ease to play and pick-up is a big part of why it sells so well.

i hated the music from the n64 ocarina of time...
no more cartridge crap,  they have no excuses now...
i also hope that this zelda brings back those good old feelings of when i would play the original ones..specially zelda 3.

I say use the orchestrated theme from the Boston Pops Orchestra.
In so many ways we live to follow the sun
In so many ways we exalt and fail as one
In so many ways we want so bad to be done
In so many ways we show our pain in unison
Bad Religion - \"In So Many Ways\"

Got Atheism?
