I have always felt that this whole post minimum requirement for avatars is a form of elitism.  Not the most obnoxious example I\'ve encountered on the Internet, but it is elitism nevertheless.

I\'m generally against situations where people set up artifical barriers to separate "US" from the vast uninvited "THEM."  I think avatars are useful to help readers remember individual posters, and they\'d be even more useful if everyone had them.

In my case I could get one, but I\'ve just been too lazy to decide on the right picture and make it.  I\'m not waiting for "Senior Member" status; I don\'t really care about that.

I think its good how it is now, having to get 500 post, it makes the avatar special, I still remember wanting a pic and mm wouldn\'t give it to me because he said I got to 500 to fast, but now that I think about it he was right, an avatar is something special at this site
