We should be able to post a pic under our usename from the beginning.  Mabey, the pic that we put in the actual post could require us to have so many post.  The pic under the usename is like a calling card, it gives the site color and the user a identity.

Just a thought.

I think avatars should be earned through commitment through the site by posting therefore I like how it is now.

Yeah, you really need to earn it. But I suggest you wait for 1400 posts. It may seem like a lot but I\'ve been here since July and only have a few hundred more to go. It goes fast. Your stars don\'t freeze because their at wise member status and your rank will be wise member. There is a lovely thread about this in the Main Forum named Newbies Come Here written by Soulgrind. Check it out. It explains everything.

yea well i dont think newbie is determined by post count but by the time someone has spent here

there are plenty of people here longer then me with low post counts and it doesnt make still not a newbie to them

yea but when do we get to change the member status ourselves? This is not for mod. only right? Do you have to like at least go to the wise member status first?

You bunch of whiners!!!!  Of you want a freaking avatar at post #1 then suck it and go somewhere else.

A lot of us earned pics and that makes them worth something.  Just hang out and join the conversation.  There is plenty to talk about here and it takes no time at all to get to 500.

If we just gave you a pic then it would mean nothing.

I think Wise Member sounds dumb. It\'s like, wow, you have 3000 posts, your wise. No he\'s not! He\'s pathetic. He has spent half his life on these forums! Therefore, he should be Dumb Member, not Wise Member!

Getting to 3000 is not that big of a deal.  I spend maybe 10 minutes total throughout the day here.  I just type fast and I type a lot.  If something strikes me as funny or interesting, I post.  I\'m certainly not pathetic.  

I have a feeling many of the other posters are the same way.

Wise Member is kind of a lame name though.  It\'s the default for the software.  We should come up with different level names.

The pictures really do need to be earned though. It shows that you are dedicated to the forums. Wait until 500 and then get your avatar. You get it in no time if you post here everyday. I registered at the way end of July and i almost have 900.
