Sega Dreamcast to cost $50?

"well, its a bit too late now, since all the games I wanted, skies of Arcadia, grandia, headhunter, F355 and soul caliber are going to ps2" - Metal Gear Ray

Umm... WTF? When did this news come out? I mean, I knew Headhunter was on it\'s way.. and Soul Calibur 2 had about a 90% chance of bein ps2 exclusive.. but nothing about any of the others you mentioned. Link?

The DC was a steal at $100, I don\'t see why some of you didn\'t pick it up then. Buyin it at 50 bucks is an insult to Sega, and the DC IMO. But hey,  I guess if it gets a good piece of gaming hardware into your hands, then it\'s ok. Jus be sure to get some good games with it. If ya don\'t like the controller, I think they\'re still selling BleemPods in some places. Jus get one of those.

Of course that\'s what I think!
Maybe if Skies\'s battle system wasn\'t... oh, I dunno, more primitive than Final Fantasy.. I\'d say otherwise:D

Grandia 2\'s battles are actually fun AND NOT RANDOM so G2 wins :p

Anyone who doesn\'t invest in a DC at that price, seriously has to have their head looked at.

I recently got Headhunter and Shenmue 2, and they are both great - Headhunter is a great combination of Metal Gear Solid, Resi Evil and er, Robocop, and Shenmue 2 is more of the same, but larger, user-friendlier and has Outrun in the arcade.

Good to be a DC owner, I say!

Careful, Marquis.

You\'re risking being told how your game sucks, your console is dead, and you\'re nothing but a fanboy if you disagree.
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

I\'m with Weltall.

Grandia 2 is great and the battle system is innovative.

I haven\'t played Skies so that makes Grandia 2 the default winner.

I think all remaining DC\'s should be incinerated so those that weren\'t smart enough to get one in its prime are completely deprived of it forever. The DC was one of the best investments, and thanks to the gamers  out there, it met its horrific fate.

*grumble* *grumble* I\'ll leave it alone, no need to build up on it.

I just got a Dreamcast for $50.00!!!!  I\'m so happy.  :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I also got Jet Grind Radio for $7.99, and it is so awesome!  What else should I get?  I\'m planning to purchase Soul Calibur and maybe one of the NBA games.  I don\'t have any interest in RPGs, but I\'m open to all other suggestions.  What\'s the best driving game for the DC?  Thanks.  :D

BTW, please don\'t blame me for the DC\'s demise because I bought it so late.  I was not into ANY console gaming of any sort until I bought my PS2 in March this year.  I missed out on the majority of the DC\'s lifespan, and this year I was buying only PS2 stuff.  Nevertheless, I\'m happy to buy up some outstanding Sega gear and enjoy it for the next couple years.  :D

I might try to save up and buy a DC and a few games this coming spring, which should give me enough time to purchase all the PS2 games that I\'ve wanted for awhile (GTA3, Tony Hawk 3, etc.).  I can\'t think of any promising games that are coming out for the PS2 around that time, so a new console might be refreshing.

Must haves...

Shenmue

Resident Evil: Code: Veronica

There\'s alot more must have games than that Ashford. RE:CV can be found on the PS2, so there\'s not alot of incentive there. Shenmue is awesome.. but it\'s gameplay in unique and reminicent of old Adventure titles.. so It may not be for everyone\'s pallate.

You should also try:

House of the Dead 2 (Beautiful game, and fun)
Metropolis Street Racer
Ferarri 355
Sonic Adventure 1 & 2
Ecco the Dolphin
Seaman
NFL2k series
Virtua Tennis
Soul Calibur (Definately pick this one up)
and I hear Alien Front Online and Vanishing Point are great too.

This is a very very short list, and I left out games you could find on the PS2 like Crazy Taxi and games that are probably better on the PC like Quake III and UT Tourney because of the wide array of skin modification and Total Conversion that are out there.

Even though you don\'t like RPG\'s, I still say give PSO a run. It\'s pretty different than traditional RPG\'s in that it\'s all in real time and not truely ment to be played unless it\'s online. Think of it more like one big chat server where you can meet up with people, trade weapons, fight monsters, play soccer, and even fight each other in battle mode. (Or PK if that\' yer kinda thing) Jus remember to stay outta the Ghetto (Oberon) and you\'ll have a blast playin. :P

BTW: Altered, I\'ve been playin.. I search yer card every once in awhile but yer never online. I\'ll be on in about 2 hours tho.. look me up. (Tesla/Sinue/Mana/Pestilance/Slater)

I know there are more but I haven\'t played many of them, unfortunately. I just listed the 2 best DC games there are and left the rest up to you and Altered and mm.
