Plus now you\'ll be able to play Disney\'s Donald Duck Goin\' Quackers!!

lol, Eik.  i love joo man!

anyways, about me and my money, hmmmmmm.

i dont drink, or do drugs.  what else is there to spend my money on?  after my rent/utilities/jeep/insurance/bills/girlfriend are covered, what else is there?  save for a rainy day?  build a nest egg?  forget that, i could get hit by a bus week walking down the street from class.  i got 3 months of "reserve" money in a savings account in case i lose my job or have an emergency, and thats it.  im FAR too young to be worried about my future.

i know guys that spend 500$ a week to feed thier coke habit.  whos wasting money now?

i might be pathetic, but when my parents split and couldnt be bothered with the kids they dragged into this world, i only had one outlet to live in an "alternate" world, that i could be who i wanted, and do what i wanted free from abuse.  i always thought of people that think video games are less that what they are as "sheltered".  they had everything handed to them free of charge and didnt have to pay for it with fear, or pain.  ack, im on a tangent, KILL ME!

we cool, ddaryl.   no worries.  we just have our priorities in different order, and that whats makes the world go round

and it is just my opinion. I could care less, I just don\'t understand how people justify it. I have so many other things I want to do and have fun with well outside the world of VG\'s. I could never find the time or willingly part with the money it would take to own all systems. I\'d rather install a hot tub on my patio and improve my gardens surrounding sed patio.

That\'s good.  You prefer to improve upon your house and go on vacations.  What abotu the people who don\'t need to go anywhere?  Who are comfortable where they live?  Who save and save for months only to accumulate cash for no particular goal.  Then, when they decide how to spend that money, it\'s their choice to decide what they want to spend it on.  A new car, a new home, a vacation, what\'s left?  What happens when you are perfectly content with staying where you are, you own the car you want and can easily afford the payments and the home you live in is suffiecient and contains anything and everything you could possibly need?

Games are my vacation and when they last me weeks at a time in between other activites I do, then I am on vacation for hours at a time everyday of the week.  Sure, at times I can\'t play anything for a couple of days, but that\'s not a problem, it\'s my choice.  Vacations are so limited to planning ahead, alotting the time, taking the time off, all types of restrictions that are so hard to work around that just planning them needs to be done weeks or months in advance.  Look at your example for a trip to hawaii... You said in a few years you would be going... In my opinion, that\'s nothing to strive for.  Ripping your guts out and working your ass off for 2 straight years to go away for one week of vacation?  I\'m practically on vacation as often as I want to be and all it costs me at a time is a miniature investment, which costs far less than any trip to hawaii and lasts me a good four years.  Consider all the consoles I buy and each fifty dollar game I pick up as a souvenir and the investment events out, except I spend more time having fun at least once a week, and at most, every day.

Clip is right, this is a hobby and I consider spending money on games as investments on time and fun and me enjoying my hobby.  If that\'s something you can\'t fathom or understand, then I\'m sorry.  Maybe you should ask yourself then why you play games at all if you can\'t see the point in us investing in them.

On a side note, I paid 45 dollars for Final Fantasy 7 and beat it 4 times at 25-75 hours a piece and then MGS2 4 times at 7-13 hours a piece and then I play Street Fighter religiously for about 4 hours a week.  That\'s just 3 games and the time I have invested in each of them at 45 bucks a piece for 150 dollars total, I consider all that time well worth it.  Why you don\'t see that is beyond me.  I didn\'t mean to turn this into some life philosphy debate or try to tell you how to live, but when you knock what I enjoy as a hobby, you do a diservice not only to me, but to the millions of other gamers out there like me and to this whole forum in general.  I thought the whole purpose of this site was to debate what we all love, videogames, and not to question that fact.  I just think it\'s a bit hypocritacle of you, being a game player yourself, to question why we do something for fun when we just do it more than yourself.

It sort of sounds like you consider yourself as the model image of a game player and how all game players should be and anything moreso beyond how you do it is just wrong or should be questioned.  It just sounds very strange.

It\'s quite evident that you are the ass here.  You were the one that said :

"LMAO.  I find it pretty hilarous when a person thinks they have to spend a couple hundred just to play a videogame. It isn\'t worth it, and there has to be 100 other great things to do with your time and your money then having to own all the best VG stuff around.  I just can\'t fathom spending that much time and effort ofr just VG\'s"

You are looking down on us, telling us how to spend our money, telling us it isn\'t worth it.  Do you want us to say you are right?  If you want to know, to tell you the truth I pity your life.  I don\'t own a house, I don\'t have a garden, I have any commitments no obligations.  I can go on a vacation whenever I want, I have complete freedom to do as I please; to spend my money on whatever I want.  The best part is that I\'m still maxxing out my RRSP contributions while actually living life.

I don\'t have to worry about morgages, kids, renovations etc.  In July my GF and I decided to go to Nice, France, in August we were there.

Don\'t judge me and talk like you know my life and spend your money more wisely than I do.

So yes, I do think river rafting is a waste of time.  I went in high school and haven\'t wanted to go back.  You like it, that\'s fine, many people do.  Personally, I\'d rather take a slow ride down a merky river in Australia, watching crocodile eyes follow slowly behind.  Different people have differing tastes.

But don\'t apologize to me for my opinion.

You\'ve backed away from your initial post, in the face of angry responces, but you still carry a tone of "Do what you want, but I know best." , of arrogance.

Don\'t pretend to know me.

Hey Ryu, what\'s going on with the SF series and next gen consoles.  I haven\'t heard anything and am getting an itch.

On a side note, if SF ever goes online here, I\'d like to look you up, to see how good your kung-fu is--my friends refuse to play me anymore, heh.

You\'re getting pretty defensive there dude

I never told any one what they should do. I just re-itterated that I can not underrstand why someone would do it, and I don\'t.

mm

I also do not find anyone here pathetic or anything. I voiced my opinion.

I do admit I get a chuckle out of your hardcore gamers getting all defensive and trying ot convince me of why you do what you do.

sit back chill, and try not to give a rats ass about my opinion on it.

Or lets continue this until all of you diehard hardcores convince yourselves that your Obsession is a hobby ;)

Ryu is a washed up SF junkie! :p 4 hours a week? ha! Try 15 hours a week! I am still overly addicted to that game when I find the time to get some guys together, we play religiously for hours at a time!

Nobody can still touch my Q! Fear me Watchdog and Ryu, when SF goes online, you will have your asses handed to you by the masked fat-slapper!

Ha!  What the hell can a Sega junkie know about SF?

I\'ll lay waste to you with Ryu, then humiliate you with a thorough beating by Chun-li.

I know the Dreamcast is the only place I can play it at home, and I know that my Dreamcast has played it over a thousand of hours since I have gotten it. I also know when I am home, I enjoy the comfortable quality of a MAS stick. So, yes, I will whoop your ass with anyone I feel like ;) But if you pull out Shotos (cheapest asses in the game) I will have to pull out my Shoto...Akuma.

Also, my Makato is getting pretty good, FEAR THE OBSCURE CHARACTERS!

Then give me Zangeif, Sagat or Birdie--they are all the same, and have too much of mean and too little of compassion to grant you even a chance.

I have one concern, given current technology, I doubt that contemporary braodband connections are adequate to carry the fat signal that is my kung-fu.  For medeocre players like yourself, this isn\'t a problem of course, but for the true world warrior it certainly is.

I only play Street Fighter 4 hours a week because the computer os not really training at all.  No one wants to play me, and the people who do demand that I put my handicap up so my moves do little to no damage.  You\'d be surprised how long a match can go when people can\'t touch me and when I just beat them senseless only to drop them 50% in like 5 minutes of fighting.  It just gets boring fighting computer drones with the same patterns all the time.  Besides that, I\'m using my ascii FT2 pad for my PS2 to fight in capcom vs snk 2.  Joysticks were just never my forte.

As for the comments...

Agreed there.  The Shotokan people are alright, but I prefer variety nowadays with Rock Howard, Terry Bogard, Kyo, Nakoruru, Haomaru, E. Honda, Zangief, Blanka, and a slew of other people.  I don\'t stay strict to one person like I used to.  It\'s all about variety with me.

Its not really important what other people do in their free time. The fact that DDaryl doesn\'t understand what MM is doing just goes to show that they have different prioties, nothing wrong there!

Also Street Fighter is a cool game! :)
