Suikoden 3 sucks

Well, at least you had the chance to play it.


It was one of my most anticipated games this year... until Konami canceled the Pal version

what???? they have cancelled the pal version............... grrrrrrr

It\'s cancelled due to translation problems.

It sounds like BS to me and they\'d have released the game in English, like they did with the two previous ones.

The first 2 games bored the crap out of me.  This one I was interested in.  It also seems to be very long.  You get to choose between 3 characters at the beginning and 3 later on I think.  I chose one guy and played it for 5 days and still didn\'t finish his first chapter.

The battle system is very weird.  I don\'t like it.

I played through the first one and while it had its moments, overall I wasn\'t very thrilled. However what I\'m here to say is that I believe it seemed to drag due to poor play on my part rather than the game itself being such a real snoozer.

In retrospect I can see it comes down to my blowing through in an effort to finish instead of taking advantage of the facets provided that would have otherwise made the game much more entertaining. I\'d go into more detail on Suikoden but perhaps I can make my point better by saying it\'s all too common to see people griping about negative aspects of a game when in fact  solutions to the complaints were right at hand.

Someone at gaming-age e-mailed Konami some time ago, and this was Konami Europe\'s reply:

The reason for not releasing Suikoden 3 in Europe is due to translation problems, but not just the cost issue. Yes it is very expensive to translate a text based game such as Suikoden into several European languages, but we release all our games with 5 text language options and Suikoden 3 would not be an exception. There are other issues, because of the way that Suikoden 3 was programmed and coded in the first place, it is very difficult to go back and change the text. They practically have to start again and re-programme the whole thing from the beginning. They will have to do this for each language. This would mean that it would take a very long time to have the
European version finished. We just don\'t have the time or the man power. We are aware that there is a large RPG fanbase in Europe, I am one myself, however these amount to very few in the overall market. In order to make the game more appealing to other people in Europe as well as the hard core fans, we need to release it in other languages. It is very text heavy and for someone who can not read or speak English it would be very difficult to play. I tried playing a Japanese version but I had to give up after about an hour, I didn\'t know what was going on and this made it difficult and boring. We would be losing a considerable amount of money if we released an English only version in Europe, it would sell only to the fans and that is not enough people, we wouldn\'t even be close to breaking even. Yes, we released Suikoden 1 & 2 in English only, and they didn\'t sell, we hardly sold any at all and we made a loss, we can not afford to do that again. It is ridiculous to expect any publisher to release a game if they know that they are not going to make even the smallest of profits.

I\'m thinking about this game, but right now my money is set on RE2 & 3, and Mega Man Zero

After torturously forcing myself to complete the 1st chapter of each character. I think I\'ve second opinion of this game. I\'m sort of get used to the battle system. The story seems to be coming along in pieces and it doesn\'t seems as bad as I first play it. There still many nagging issues like why you can\'t go directly to a different town but instead have to forced yourway to go through some dungeons/forest before reaching the destination. It annoys when you want to simply go to the other town to do some trading.

Still the 9.4 by IGN is overated, the first 2 games are still much superior, IMO.

Well, I bought suikoden 3, 3 days ago.
and I must say I\'ve also been very disapointed by this game...
it\'s my first rpg on PS2 and I was shocked to see only text and no voice... the characters look stupid and childish...
the garphics and sounds are ok though but that\'s not enough fo an RPG.

I remember suikoden1 on paystation, it was much better...

I\'ve come to the conclusion that it\'s really not my type of game.  And for the first time in a long time I am on a tight budget so my game choices have to be wise, as well as few and far between.
