Actually the 300D is not $200 more than a G5, it\'s about $500 more.  The G5 has been discounted by many retailers, and it can now be had for around $515.00.

Don\'t forget that the smaller size of the G5 IS an advantage for certain situations.  I find that I\'m reluctant to take my SLR everywhere I go, and also reluctant to drag it out of the camera bag in certain situations.  Some people don\'t like having their picture taken, and when you point an SLR at them, they really give you hell.  I find myself carrying around a shitty point-and-shoot just so that I can get images quickly without arousing suspicion.  Hopefully the G5 will replace the variety of 35mm cameras I have for that role.

If you have any more questions, ask away.  I know a bit about Canon gear, but I\'m not a total expert.  I know someone who is though.  :)

Oh well, I didn\'t know that G5 was so cheap over there, here it\'s about €900, €200 less than EOS300D, which means I\'d never buy it having the opportunity to purchase a SLR for 200 more. Anyway, G5 is a good 5mp camera, successor of one of the most aclaimed digicams, the G3. Go ahead for it.

Thanx, if I have doubts about it before purchasing, i\'ll ask you ;)

I got a Canon Powershot S400 for my birthday two weeks ago. It is the best thing I\'ve ever held in my hand. Its 4 Megapixels, can shoot video and I ran out of battery before I ran out of memory (32MB card). The battery is my only complaint. I only have enough battery for like 100 pictures. They have higher capacity batteries I believe so I think I\'ll pick it up. I am very pleased with the camera and have a lot of fun using it. I can\'t wait to get some more little toys and stuff to go along with it.

Adan, if you really want it, contact some of the sites and see if the warrenty is international and stuff like that. If everything sounds good, buy it.

Ill post you the email reply B&H sent me today:

In order to distinguish B+H\'s web site from our competition, we have tried to keep our product pages neat and free from clutter. One change we made was to remove the "items included" listing because this varied from item to item making a general page outline impossible. Every product page will have several options all concerning additional information about the item you were looking at.

Some of these options are;
ACCESSORIES:
THIS ITEM INCLUDES:
SPECIFICATIONS:

Video Out Yes (NTSC & PAL selectable)

B & H BANK INFORMATION FOR WIRE TRANSFERS:
FLEET BANK 1185 Avenue if the Americas, N.Y. N.Y. 10036
Name: B & H Foto & Electronics Corp.
ACCT. # 9429168122 ABA # 021200339
SWIFT # FNBBUS33
PLEASE REFER TO YOUR QUOTE/ORDER NUMBER ON YOUR WIRE
***************(very important)*************************
Please check with your bank that the final amount
we receive is the correct amount.
(some banks deduct a fee for wiring over funds).

B+H is an authorized Canon USA dealer for the digital products we sell. We do not sell grey market digital products, nor offer an international warranty option.

A "USA" warranted item may be repaired in any manufacturer\'s
authorized service facility worldwide if the item required in-warranty service.

For product sold out side the United States, please check with the manufacturer locally, to see if they will honor the USA warranty. This is entirely up to the discretion of the manufacture in question and out of the control of B+H.

All product is new and covered by the manufacturers original warranty. B+H does not sell REFURBISHED or re-boxed product as new.

Mack extended warranties can cover a camera overseas. This warranty is an extension of the manufacturer\'s normal warranty on the equipment for an additional period of  (3) or (5) years ( depending on your item ) from date of purchase. It is available on the camera\'s product page as a recommended accessory.

I hate those automatic-responses.

How long is the warrenty in America? Sometimes, the warrenty is only like 90 days or a year or something. Canon makes terrific stuff and I wouldn\'t expect it to break for a long time.

1 year of warranty according to the online shop. Well, in electronic devices you cannot be that sure that the machine is gonna work properly, even it\'s made by a great company.

Sound like you know more about those websites than I do, Adan.  :stick:

By the way, I ordered the G5.  $507.00.  :artyon:

Here is the nikon: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Nikon/nikon_d100.asp

ANd here is the better version of your camera:

It just has a much more solid feel to it.  Honestly for the money I would go for the rebel.

Yeah video, I knew those ones. 10D is a good camera, as I said to Cored, "more professional", but also more expensive.

On the other hand, the Nikin D100 is also a good camera, a bit older, with less resolution and more expensive than Rebel. If I had in mind to buy the Nikon D100... dunno.. I\'d compare both, rebel and d100 because the difference in money is perhaps too much.

On the photographic comparisons, the Canon Rebel 300D and the 10D have similiare results.  They look very similiar that its hard to distinguish between the two.  So, it a very good deal to own Canon Rebel 300D.  Canon are known for their Lens, even their CCD and CMOS are better than most brands I know.

I would not call this "risk" lol.

I have a D60 and let me tell you this; when you have over 25,000 pictures taken the price is well worth it.  About 25% of them are keepers which is pretty good considering that its the first DSLR that I got.

And if you do go with the 300D be sure to get the best lens you can afford.  No use putting cheap zoom lenses in front of such a camera.  Get the 50mm F1.8 II if your short on cash.  Its quality match some of those $1,000 zoom lenses.

Is that the one that brings the body pack? If not, is it good enough? I thought in buying the pack (body + lens).
