The original is the best. I cannot wait for the nice big 2-disc release they are working on (ala Citzen Kane\'s big special edition).

LOTR was a good cinematic trilogy. The 3rd gets a little more praise than it deserves, IMO, but they\'re all solid movies. Of course, I didn\'t read the books.

I did read that they had to cut a load of stuff to make it work in movie form, though.

Why should I have to wake up?

Most likely its just gonna be another LOTR. LOTR was good. But I dont want Tolkien just to be seen as some guy.

He was an amazing writer, not all of his shit should be tossed into a movie. Give the man some respect.

^^^True that. I thought Jurassic Park was an amazing movie when I was younger. I read the book and thought the movie was complete crap compared to the book.

I can\'t wait until this comes out. I loved the movies (gonna read the books eventually) and would like to see he prequel.

How does taking his books and making them into movies not showing him respect? His family has given their best wishes and if anything, all this does is open up his world to more people, who would not normally be interested in a fantasy novel. The movie\'s only serve as  visual aid to the story for those who have read the book and those who haven\'t will find a whole new world.

Take for example, \'Dune\', I have never read the book, but after watching the mini-series and the David Lynch film I  will buy the books for sure. Yes, I know the books will be better than the films, but if not for the films, I would of never been interested in the book.

It was required reading freshman year of college, and from what I understand that is a fairly common practice.

The books were a craze what 50 years ago? Leonard  Nimoy even did a Hobbit song in the 60\'s. Jackson brought a story that many youth have not had the joy of experiencing as of yet, and to an older generation whom enjoyed it countless years ago.
