Well, one thing about Damnation that made me really like it is that you can take this (insert whatever genre you label opeth as) band, and they can come out with something so remarkably beautiful- completely standing parallel to their other work- and still look like badass\'s.
Think for yourself. Question authority.

Damnation evoked more emotions than any album I can think of

I take it, by "more" you don\'t refer to the number of different emotions that it stirred in you? It was pretty much a consistant sound throughout.

Damnation was good, with some really great stuff. But it didn\'t live up to their potential, IMO. My favourite parts of their earlier works were always the transition from Cookie monster to classical singing. Which were far more "beutiful" than just about anything on Damnation. IMO, of course.

While Damnation wasn\'t as great as I had hoped there were some incredible songs on there, some of Opeth\'s best like Closure and Hope Leaves.

You guys turned me on to Opeth.I\'ve been listening to some albums and it\'s good.As soon as I heard it was progressive metal I was interested.

My favourite band ever is Tool and I know that I\'ll never come across a band that\'s better then Tool.It\'s sad because I know I\'ll never discover a better band then Tool. However I\'m thankfull that I discovered them soon because some people spend a lot of years looking for the perfect band and I found it already!

My friend is also a huge Tool fan.If he comes over and I want to play some Opeth for him, what song should I play to get him to like it.I was thinking about Atonement but now I need a harder song.

Any suggestions?

P.S:It\'s official that MJK has taken a break from APC and is working on a new Tool record for a while now.

Songs to play:

Bleak (off Blackwater Park)
The Drapery Falls (off Blackwater Park)
The Moor (off Still Life)
Deliverance (off Deliverance)

for starters.  I think all show off the band well.  They mix the growling and clean vocals well, and all have a great sound, in my opinion.

Hope Leaves - One of the single best Opeth songs...EVER.

Bleak - I can never get enough of this song.

Harvest - Another damn good song off Blackwater Park

As for MJK & APC. Don\'t expect anything from APC for along time. Everyone , including Billy are doin\' their own thing and the band is without a label right now.

unlistenable music terrible
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

Ghost Reveries is by no means the greatest album ever and I doubt it will ever get the play that \'Blackwater Park\' or \'Still Life\' has received from me, but when you put it against other metal bands, it is still heads and shoulders above the rest of the crap that is out there.
