Ah, see let me point some things out there.

1: You avoided the PS2 launch. You didn\'t own a launch PS2. You didn\'t stand in a line. You didn\'t go thru the hysteria, the hype. That can effect an opinion one way or another.

2: The DC had Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur and House of the Dead 2. All three of those was excellent games.

I didn\'t avoid it per se, I just pre-ordered late.  I also enjoyed summoner, so my expectations from a game aren\'t exactly stellar.  I can find enjoyment out of just about any game.

I played house of the dead 2 in the arcades and I eventually had my soul calibur fill with the sequal on PS2.  Maybe I expect too little and you expect too much?

Haha word.  I went through all that crap, waiting 14 hours in line in the frosty late October cold.  I bought into the hype and all that I got was a polished version of Tekken 3 and a pretty snowboard game.

If I had the ability to just walk into a store and pick it up I probably would have enjoyed em em a lot more. :p

Ps2 launched with bullshit. MM talks about everyone else as being sheep. Ps2 had a shitty launch. Nothing to warrant a purchase of the console at launch.

I got one because of hype. I had the thing and only game I played on it was TTT. Nothing else had me going. While I thought SSX was a decent game nothing special to have me going out and purchasing a ps2.

I am glad I don\'t whore myself out to one console company or I would have been one pissed off gamer.

well, if you don\'t own any dvd players at that time, uses the ps2 as a temporary dvd player would be a good excuse to get one.

I didn\'t even have a dvd player back in  2000, when the ps2 comes out.  i also bought into the hype and planning on getting one.  Good thing is i didn\'t bother to camp out, i wait till they are available, but turns out they are out of stock everytime i called best buys...

it\'s not until in summer of 2001 that i finally got a ps2 and i got the money from working summer job.  I only have one game bundle which is GT3, and beside that, i use my ps2 to playback my PSOne games while the psOne console is back in the box and I let my sister borrowed it for her kids days later.

Ahm people take into consideration what the console is going to offer in its whole lifespan not what it offers at launch.
Early adopters or not its the expectations for the future the biggest motivation. Not the launch titles.
And thank God early adopters exist because a good launch sets future support
