oh I see.  Checking your pic again, I noticed the ps3 under the tv\'s stand.

You\'ll primarily use them for charging your controller.  I use mine for that, a thumb drive for transferring files back & forth, and also for a PS2 USB adapter so I can use my joystick.

I noticed that the MGS4 package online is 500 dollars with the 80GB PS3 but will probably still won\'t use the backwards compatibility. I\'m more inclined to get that. I don\'t really care about the USB ports since I can just get a USB thing.

but software emulation should do for many of the games...and they are firmware upgradeable.  other than that, you can rely on your good old ps2 console...

the MGS 80 GB PS3 package does make me kind of want to get a ps3, but the $500 is still a bit too expensive for me.  I don\'t mind waiting though it been years since the last time that I bought any new videogames, i been purchasing old school remade videogames.  When FFXIII comes out which I think next year, might be the time that I will get a ps3.

Well if you are still playing PS2 games a lot, I think it will be a good choice to get the 80GB for backwards compatibility + MGS4. After some time with the PS3 you will find it convenient to use it for everything.

Other than that, paying extra for that alone when you wont be playing PS2 games much doesnt sound like a necessity. Especially when the 40GB PS3 might be getting complete software emulatio (although not guaranteed).

I guess the 80GB except from extra storage, MGS4 and BC, it also comes with the dual shock 3 right?

I noticed that if you get a 40GB version + MGS4 separately it will cost around $455 ($399+$55). You are basically paying $45 extra for BC and double the HDD storage I guess assuming you are aiming for an 80GB MGS4 Bundle that costs $500

That\'s what I was thinking. I\'d rather spend the extra 45 bucks, which I will have in a couple weeks, and get the better PS3, since I\'m getting MGS4 when I buy it anyway. Worst case scenerio I don\'t use it and I\'m out 45 bucks but I think the hard drive alone would be worth it. I\'m not expecting to do serious gaming but I at least have that peace of mind so if I do use up the space, I won\'t have to buy a new hard drive.

I love having my new job. I get over 320 a week so in two weeks, I should have enough to buy this and have money left over for a 30 pack to drink while I play

I\'d like to offer advice.

1: Enjoy the money while it lasts. It\'s decent money for your age.

2: Save the money. You\'ll regret spending it all on trivial things when you get older, have a family and need to buy a house.

3: Buy everything you can while you are young and single.

4: Buy the cheapest PS3 and just get Rachet and Clank.

5: Save your money. You\'ll never know when you need it.

I\'m gonna open up a savings account and put a good percentage of my check into that and the stuff I\'m willing to spend in my checking. Only big things this summer I\'m buying is a PS3 and a new guitar amp. Those two purchases should cost me 800, and the guitar amp I\'m buying at the end of the summer (since the band me and my friend are working on isn\'t in the playing stage yet). The rest I\'m saving for the school year and other stuff and the times I go out with friends. But I\'m planning on working during the school year so I think I\'ll be good.

I cringe whenever I think about the stupid shit I wasted my money on when I was a kid.  If only I had bought stock in Apple instead I wouldn\'t have to work right now.
