However if your waiting for GT3 or MGS2 and the current titles dont excite you, wait. You may be lucky enough to catch the 1st price drop.

:) That\'s pretty much what I was going to say. There are a ton of exciting titles comming out in the upcomming months, see if any interest you.

If you want to get one do it. I did and dont regret it. I like all platforms and this is the first time I bought one when it launched. That was an exciting day I wont soon forget.

SonyFan states, "...Wait till October..."

YIKES!!!  And wait over 6 months to enjoy SSX, ATV Offroad Fury, Madden 2001, and a boatload of upcoming titles?  Not to mention playing some great moderately priced PSX titles on the same machine?  Or DVD anytime you want?

Sure, what I\'ve asked above relates to points about the PS2 that we all are aware of.  But seriously, why would someone want to wait any longer for this system if they INTEND on buying it "eventually".  Price-lurkers need not reply.  SonyFan *IS* probably right in the belief that the HDD will be in the PS2 by then, but then again, it may not...why wait if you WANT to play the system?

My obvious answer is "don\'t wait, buy it today!"

Take into consideration the issue of utility... sure the price will drop in the future.. however, what you are giving up in return is playing games...

Those who have bought the system for 300 dollars (myself included) will have paid more money than those who buy it 6-7 months from now.. however, within that time period we are able to enjoy the console... so lets put this into perspective...

Lets just say the PS2 will drop to 200 dollars, 200 days from now and you go out and buy one today for 300 dollars (tax would make it a little more complicated so just keep it @ 300)... using a simple mathematical formula, you will realize that within this time period of 200 days, those who own the PS2 will be able to play it at a price of 50 cents a day (that\'s pretty good :) and if you wait... you\'ll be saving 50 cents a day... think about it.. and get a PS2 today!!! (I hope I did my math right :)

March is the month to get it... because it\'s all uphill from there!

I\'m probably gonna buy one later this month once ZOE is out.  Hopefully i\'ll be able to find one...i\'ve never seen even one ps2 on the shelves since it came out!  Hopefully one day i\'ll know the bliss that is PS2.:)

Should you buy a PS2?  Why don\'t you already have one?  If you have been to a store which actually has PS2\'s and gone back home, then I\'m just a little puzzled by you...

Yes!  Get one right now!  I personally have never played a DVD on my PS2, and I got it at launch date...I just had a DVD player before.  So I can\'t speak for that, but it has great games, with only better ones coming out.  You should already own one, having posted on a PS2 board (you\'re obviously interested).  Just buy one and be happy.  I bought the PSX literally one month before it dropped to $200 US, and I was never mad about it because of all the great gaming I had already squeezed in.  Just do it, man.

My honest opinion is to take the approach that I\'m taking.  I\'m waiting until the GC and Xbox come out so that I can make a fair comparison.  I\'m a poor broke ass college student and I can\'t afford to buy 2 or 3 systems.  So I\'ll just wait until all three systems are on the market and then judge.  There\'s no point in making a decision right now, because all we have is the PS2 and Xbox and GC rumors.  E3 might help you with you\'re decision though.  There you\'ll see the price of all 3 systems and what games they will offer.  Sure the PS2 will have great games comming out, but so will the Xbox and GC.  Just wait and play the system you have now.  There\'s no benefit in jumping the gun unless you have a disposable income.
When all is said and done...the PS2 will be remembered as the console with the best games in Fall 2001.
