12 posts, huh? I\'m gonna suppose you are posting then cuz you are either a "soon-to-be" owner or a recent owner of a PS2. As such, [at least] my warning from considered personal experience is STAY AWAY from the SAITEK DVD controller. I will go to the grave believing that unit ruined my 1st PS2.
Some advice? Ask yourself if and how much you find that you use your VCR remote when playing video tapes. Think about it. Even if you DO find that you use it to pause now and then, ask yourself how far away the unit is from where you typically sit. Lastly, ask yourself (depending on your previous answers) if you think you could get away with the "gamepad-stretched-across-the-floor" deal. Why? Well, you\'d have to answer that for yourself, but if you try the gamepad on a DVD movie, it is altogether possible that you will appreciate Sony\'s attempt to make it user-friendly (yes, ONCE you learn the buttons) -- they are fairly logical in their purposes.
MANY of the 3rd party DVD controllers were designed from the JAP PS2 version. Surprisingly, when Sony designed the AM PS2 version, they SWITCHED *Stop* and *Play*. That proved a major bummer for many owners of the controllers. Now, have 3rd party controllers re-configed the more recent ones on the shelf? Maybe...someone else would have to answer that...
Lastly, if you MUST have a DVD controller then I\'d suggest you wait for Sony\'s proprietary controller. It is a general consensus that Sony\'s controller will prove to be the absolute best of the bunch.
