The Real Emotion Engine!!!

These are models from NFL Fever for the Xbox.  If you thought Madden\'s players looked like zombies, then this is the game for you.  While you\'re playing NFL Fever you can see the emotions on the player\'s faces such as these.

This is the pissed off face!

This is the "I just knocked your wind out, now I\'m stoked!" face.

This is the "You just knocked my wind out and cracked my ribs, you bastard!" look.

This is the deer in the headlights look when you see two free linebackers coming at you.

This is the, "Yeah, I know I\'m all that!" look.
When all is said and done...the PS2 will be remembered as the console with the best games in Fall 2001.

Please Please DirectXbox save this thread for the CONSOLE DEBATING forum, seeing that this is a PS2 site after all.

PS2 takes priority on the mian forum seeing thats the reason why we are all here .... i think.

Good thread though , just ask a Admin or Mod to move it that way you have have a SERIOUS discussion over it , rather than have a flame war with the fanboys and trolls of the forum.

Those expressions aren\'t anything EA couldn\'t have put into Madden2001 if they would have put a little more effort into it. Madden was rushed, and even the PC version dosen\'t have the range of expressions the Xbox version does despite being extreemly similar to program for (just less powerful). The only thing I truly see in those football pics that I think can\'t be done on the PS2 is perhaps the textures, but I still believe that\'s just a temporary problem.

The pics do look nice though, and I\'m not so arrogant as to think the Xbox is less powerful than the PS2.. but what we\'re seeing now is Xbox games that half-complete being show on incomplete hardware and compairing them to games made for a machine that almost noone really understands.. and worse than that.. games that were made with NO prior PS2 programming experience and that were rushed to meet launch. (Madden2001).

We\'ll see by this fall what the finished version of this game looks like and if it compairs to Madden2002. :D

BTW: Do you think the argument for varrying generations of software will be acceptable for the Xbox? After all, that argument stems from Nintendo/Sega/Sony each having different machines with different archetecture from computers. Programming for each new machine would would have to be learned with experience. (Although Sony did have extensive librarys for developers with the PS1 which earned it\'s reputation for being easy to program for.) Now that the Xbox is running on a X86 archetecture and utilizing DirectX8, most of it\'s developers (Expecially the PC ones) will have a deep understanding of the machine already. All that\'s really left is to figure out the kinks where the archetecture has been streamlined for console use and how to utilize new effects like per-pixel shading.

i also think the difference are the textures and graphics, madden coulda had those kind of facial expressions, look at the expressions that have right now, they get mad they get happy, they have facial expressions.
\"So are you going to kill her off?\"
Are you insane! I love her character, she stays.
\"The only thing loves done is put you in this position, I say kill her off!\"
Yeah, but you say a lot of things..
and how does that work....  You\'re a bicycle..

Madden was also a 1st gen PS2 game on a hard to program for system. It will be interesting to see what EA does with a 2nd gen Madden on the PS2 and a 1st gen Madden on Xbox

I know Xbox games are running on unfinished kits, but it obvious that the MS and Xbox aren\'t living up to the promise of 3x\'s more powerful at this junction.

RIght now comparing all the latest Xbox screens to Onimusha, ZOE, MGS2, Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance, GT3 and others Xbox isn\'t living up

Xbox needs to be clearly more powerful to succeed and they are failing to do this

You wont see much of a difference or improvement over successive generations of games on the XBox like you will with the PS2.

Pretty much all of the hardware features are available from the outset to programmers thanks to DirectX. While this is all well and good initially, 4 years down the track games really wont look that far removed from 2nd gen games.

This is one of the major problems with a mid-level API like DirectX. Engines will look and perform in a very similar way and all the thanks can go to MS and DirectX. One of the XBoxs major strengths is also one of its major flaws.
