The bloke in this forum said that if you \'cut\' the \'switch\' pin of your scart connector you will not get the green screen due to the macrovision when you watch dvd\'s!

Does anyone know which pin number the \'switch\' pin is?  or does anyone know if this will work?  The \'switch\' pin is mean\'t to be there to switch between rgb and CV mode!
If you need help,
I will be there for you my friend,
I will never let you down.

No Rlau, it seems to me that this will only \'switch\' the input to the tv from RGB to composite.

Normally the 1st Scart socket (Usually AV1) is a \'proper\' RGB input. on most TV\'s the other Scart inputs are
Composite Inputs. This so called \'switch pin\' Tells your television set what signal type it\'s recieving.
You will get a colour picture watching DVD via a proper RGB Scart lead if it\'s plugged into a Composite Scart
connection on your recieving TV. You Will get a Green Screen picture if the scart socket on your television set is a
\'Proper RGB\' scart socket.

The problem here is that if you are using a proper scart lead connected into a Composite scart socket on your TV
Is that the picture Quality will still be Composite and not True RGB.
This goes for games aswell.

The only way to get True RGB DVD Playback is to use a hardware hack. This means Goodbye Warranty
The Cocky Ninja Who Wont Quit..

I actually read this post different to stanzo. Im not sure what is meant by this fix but this is how I interrepted it.

The switch pin is actually Pin 8 on a RGB scart lead, it switches the TV to the Scart channel automatically once power is pressed on the device. It also causes the TV to display the picture squashed and the TV automatically makes it full screen again. My TV didn\'t do this with RGB scart. I was left playing games with these boarders (not PAL boarders but boarders which normal TV users don\'t see). Therefore I disabled pin 8 to stop this happening, it also means i have to manually select the Scart channel when wanting to use my PS2.

Either way I still get Green Screen DVD playback through the RGB Scart Cable.

There is a fix but it requires joining two pins within the PS2 and thus will probably invalidate your warrentee.
