Thanks for the comments guys. I like how Nintendo is keeping the price down on the console. It\'s yet to be released here (7th May I think it is), but I wouldn\'t be surprised if it\'s half of what an Xbox costs.
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAPETIME!

Gamecube reminds me of the Dreamcast alot. Unique, and intricate games, and a system with so much potential that so many people just overlook.

Try removing those PS2 is sh!t goggles for a second and try taking a good look at yourself for a change.

Hahahaha! Please tell me you can put Sled Storm into your PS2 and not throw up at the intense blurry graphics. Playing Virtua Fighter 4 will literally cut your face up if you get too close to the TV. Star Wars Jedi Star Fighter is another blur fest, etc. I am naming new games so you don\'t whine and say "but those are old games!! The problems have been fixed!!" :lol PS2 is crappy hardware now. It ain\'t even close in terms of graphics as XBox or GC. I would say the leap between PS2 to XBox is bigger than that of DC to PS2.

this is Console Debating. I might as well bring in the PS2, as it seems it gets talked about the least in here. Does that offend you or something? I can\'t tell you how many XBoxs and GCs have been sold at my store purely because people look at Star Wars or Sled Storm and notice how crappy they look.

I own a PS2. It has a handful of some of the best games I have played in YEARS which is quite an accomplishment, as I bashed it to hell when it came out. When I talk negatively about PS2, it is from personal experience.

Congratulations, you get the  for the day!

What offends me is someone who cries about the reek of fanboy sh!t yet thinks their own smells as sweet as roses. Need another reminder? Review your little speech in the thread stuck to the top of this forum. Otherwise Altered, what you have to say is mostly like pee pee rolling off a duck\'s back, to me.

Congats to those who remained fully on topic. My apologies for heading things off topic myself. I promise, my last time this thread

You don\'t get it, do you?

I wasn\'t off topic until YOU called me on it. I merely added in PS2, the weakest console of this generation, to the conversation. It was hyped to hell, much more so than XBox (or GC, although it wasn\'t hyped, period). You are the only one whining about it. PS2 needs no sticking up for, it is already a success, so read my post, notice it\'s insight, and drop it.

*****ing at me won\'t change the fact that most PS2 games are a blurry mess, the ones that aren\'t either have a severe lack of textures or  have a mass amount of jaggies going on.

Here are some of the games with the patented PS2 \'blurry background effect\':

Tiger Woods 2002, FFX, Extermination, Jak and Daxter (I can\'t believe people were raving about the graphics of this game), Sled Storm, Star Wars Jedi Starfighter, and GT3 (although the cars themselves still look great).

Here is another great looking GC game: Soccer Slam. I think this game looks great. Has a great style to it, and those screenshots that came out when it was unveiled do it NO justice.

Alright, lets cool it guys.  Altered is entitled to his opinion even though I think he is being a bit extreme about it all.  The PS2 is not the best looking console this generation, but that means nothing because it has some of the best games.  Altered said so himself that the PS2 has excellent games, but arguing about who is a fanboy and who is not based on a personal dislike of a couple of graphical issues gets us nowhere.  The PS2 does have issues, they\'re undeniable and if Altered wants to demonstrate that with a bold statement, so be it... It\'s not like so many of us were any easier on the Xbox and its games.

The Cube is a beautiful system.  It\'s compact, promises very little and yet delivers so much.  So many of you people feign at the idea of a Cel shaded Zelda, but I greet it with open arms and think it is a marvel and a beautiful and bold statement for the future of gaming.  If that doesn\'t please you, take a look at Metroid Prime.  It may not be the side scrolling 2D action adventure game we have all come to love of old, but the graphics there are surely amazing and they are not cel-shaded in the slightest.

Speaking of these games on the Cube, take a look at the variety as mentioned earlier in both graphics and atmosphere.  Metroid, Zelda, Mario, Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness, Rogue Leader, Luigi\'s Mansion, Super Monkey Ball, Soccer Slam... There is more variety present there in that small list of games then I have seen since the Dreamcast launch.  The atmospheres for each game mentioned are so incredibly different and varied that it\'s sure to keep any gamer happy.  How people can tell Nintendo to grow up is a bit odd considering what\'s to come and what is available.

The point is, Nintendo is doing a great job and there is nothing ahead except for sunny skies.  Great GBA games, greant GCN games, Squaresoft... How can anyone deny themselves a Nintendo console?  It doesn\'t play your DVD movies... but who cares when it gets the job done in the end?

Ryu: *nods*

And just because Nintendo is going to kick ass this year doesn\'t mean that Xbox/PS2 are getting left in the dust.

It\'s going to be a banner year for gaming all-around!

true dat, Ryu.

When I get paid, my next system becomes GC, unless some oldie catches my eye at the local import/used game shop.

I am going to say with great clarity that not all PS2 use the trademark backgrounds. MGS2, Half Life, Ace Combat 4, etc all exhibit great visual quality, but they are in a great minority among the PS2\'s library, which, I am afraid to say, is becoming PSX\'s library.

The greatest system ever, IMO, may just turn out to be GBA. Street Fighter Alpha 3, Phantasy Star Collection, Monkey Ball, Virtua Tennis, Final Fantasy Tactics, Mario Brothers 3 (droollllll!!), Breath of Fire 2, Crazy Taxi (could be good, you never know), V-Rally 3, Metroid IV, etc. are all coming out within the next year or so, with tons of others on the way! Pity I can\'t enjoy playing them with a real controller, or six buttons (grumble!! SFA3!!), but this is becoming my most played console (- the DC of course) of this generation.

GC is looking to be using some of it\'s untold power coming up. The library already can provide some great multiplayer opportunities, though. Although, I gotta disagree with you on the diversity part. XBox and PS2 have a far greater diversity, it seems. GC is looking out to be a platformer/sports system, which is fine with me, make it kind of like the genny.

btw, I only say these things because I am trying to get this place going again. Everyone has become so neutral that it is boring me to tears! I throw out random thigns that may seem fanboyish or trolling, but I will back them up for the greater cause: making this place how it once was. YES, that involves getting your hands dirty.

Most of the people who are on here now weren\'t here when this place was moving. This is the only forum of PSX2c I visit, lets keep it that way!

btw, I have a great thread coming up.

Let me clarify my point then:

The GC has a lineup that is incredibly varied, but almost every title seems to be of great quality, something the Xbox and the PS2 cant attest to.  Variety on the PS2 and Xbox... sure... but constantly good variety... That\'s a whole other story.  I\'m not saying every cube game is good, but it\'s definitely tougher to name the pieces of crap on the Cube then it is to name them on the Xbox/PS2.

Blade, I have no doubts about the games on the Xbox and PS2 this year, none at all.  It\'s just that we won\'t be seeing too many of those quality titles till around Christmas time when sales are highest.  I can\'t say I blame them though because that\'s really waht this generation is going to be about: Lots of money with lots of big games.

I kinda agree with Altered Beast on some of his PS2 talk.  It does look like **** in some ways compared to xbox and GC but I don\'t let it bother me.  As long as the graphics don\'t hurt the gameplay I\'m cool.  Virtua Fighter 4 is still just as fun to me.
