This is a funny thread...

let me explain this to a certain few cause I am a statistics expert.  I\'ll put this simply.

example, and I\'ll be nice...

30 million PS2s
8 million GCNs
6 million Xbs

that total number is 44 million consoles sold...

that means PS2 makes up 68% of consoles in the world, GCN 18%, XB 14%.

That means if you release a game on PS2, your sales will do about 82% better than if you release it on X-Box, therefore increasing the amount of third-parties wanting to develop games for that system, therefore increasing the amount of games that system recieves, therefore attracting more buyers, therefore increasing consoles sold, therefore PS2 users are getting more out of their system...

that\'s

sales statistics 101 for ya...

but pretty much I hope that clears things up for you Quddus.   Number of consoles sold is directly poportional to it\'s value and well in this case how well it matches up against other consoles.

*breaking news*

The Xbox price drop in japan has allowed it to surpass the PSX and GCN!! Its amazing.. but sadly, its not

just click the links to view the charts.

Big Chart
Close Up Chart

(Sorry, you have to right click and copy it into another browser.. the host just changed the way it worked)

Wow, what a large spike for a price cut to 24,800 (199.744 USD)

I think the japaneese just gave up and started ignoring it.

Nintendo is dropping its price begining of june, which explains its sudden slack.. I wonder how high it will go?

140 N64 units sold.. wow.

This system was just about dead 6 years ago.. (right after Mario 64 was finished by the average gamer)

Or sell the whole set. The bottles could be used to "refresh" the smell.

Just for like some discussion:

I know Japan just has less ppl, but the kids and even adults are much more hardcore gamers than USA and Europe.  I mean a lot of USA kids just buy the console to have, play one or two games and thats it.  In Japan, it is a culture and past time.

But I realized this when noticing that Super SNES/Famicon and PSX had about 25% more games in Japan, some of which were cool games.  USA had no exclusive games whatsoever.

So basically MS are morons for saying that Japan market is not important.  While I do agree that they can get a solid presence in USA due to the ridiculous gullible and stupidity factor of the average American, they can never establish a real presence with the hardcore gamers, which are the money makers for game developers.

It\'s just seems like Xbox will never a real gaming machine but some stupid box that sits in ppl\'s home.

I would like to know where you got your thoughts from...the videogame industry pulls in about 20 billion a year, I would think it hard to say Japan is responsible for the bulk of it.  While I do believe Japan is very important, I think U.S. pulls in at a very close and strong second.

And considering that the average age of an Xbox or PS2 owner is 16-24 would show that it\'s not just kids who are buying these consoles or supporting the market.

The videogame industry is growing every year as more and more people pick it up as a pass-time.  And you also must realize that there are alot more developers in the U.S. today then there were last generation...

Most of those are like Hello Kitty, Roommania, Tokyo Bus, Horse Racing and the such.  Games that woud bomb in the U.S.

I don\'t remember them saying this...

And all the while I thought I just wanted to play games...I guess it was the stupidity factor in me:rolleyes:

Actually, I would think that the casual gamers far outweigh the hardcore gamers...define hardcore.

Define real gaming machine and tell me how PS2 has already met this criteria...

I hope you register, I was getting kinda bored:D
