My point is not that the PS2 never reached that leve of detail. My point is that his statements were leading to a console that could do such graphics as standard.
At the end SH3 may have reached that level of detail on fully created characters on fully created backrounds but is the only one.
It wasnt a standard quality in graphics.there is no draw distance, not many characters or screen at the  same time. This level of quality was achievable with SH3 because many other things were absent.
The point is that Phill Harrison\'s statements arent anything to be taken 100% as a fact. And nobody made a comment on the other things he said we didnt get

i think it\'s sayin alot that they achieved that on ps2 with what? only 4mb of vram?...they have a whole lot of vram this time around, and if they got impressive results with that tiny bit of vram, imagine how these games will look....that killzone footage could be a reality after all....
knowledge, wisdom & understanding..these are the basic fundamentals of life

if you can\'t amaze them with brilliance, baffle them with bullsh*t....

Its not just the detail on the enviromet or on the characters. Its also those particle effects. Those realistic smoke effects and all these things happening on screen at the same time.Especially the ending explosion were the ship collapses with the tank is way too much.
If they only showed the character moving and killing a few soldiers with his gun then I might have had less doubts.

Btw I checked the video again. The clouds are flat.

So far myself found some mistakes which I mentioned earlier.
One is 20 secs a character pops up.1:41-1:42 a part at the lower right corner flickers.

Now I ve been searching in the IGN forums for any clues some say that at the booth at E3 when they asked if it was real they said that it was.

Others say it wasnt and interviews lead to that.

I am not taking anyone seriously but they also posted some other mistakes.

When they land on the ground and one of the ships explodes one of the bodys is floating and you can see his shadow below him.(0:48)
Also after that you can see that the character is facing at the destroyied ship. When he gets off his ship and turns again to the direction of the destroied one its gone.

Something else to add.Phil harrisson said that not all of them were on video. He probably didnt mean that they were prerendered. He probably ment that they didnt bring them in real time form but that they recorded the real time footage on video.

As for Guerilla\'s statements are ambiguous. They said that its an indication of the game they are TRYING to make.
But if you think more about it and if the game is scripted real time then you can say they ment that they are trying to make the game to be like that in gameplay.

hmmm
