Isn\'t it a global economy based on the global gold standard? When the economy booms in say Europe, doesn\'t it generate more money for us? I know nothing about economics.

No. The world did away with the gold standard a while ago. The global economy is now based on fiat money, with the dollar as the world reserve currency.
