Saw this at the car forum. Yeah, I cringed when I saw that. I thought about mm\'s balls for some strange titillating reason.

What the?  How does wood pierce a steel firewall?  Is that steel diamond plate, or is it faux?

I thought Jeeps were "trail rated" and shit???

yea that is kinda weird...cause lookin\' at the pic it doesn\'t seem like he would\'ve been goin fast enough for something like that to puncture it so easily ....and if he wasn\'t then i guess the metal used is really thin and cheap...even tho most vehichles aren\'t really made out of sturdy reinforced metal and such(most vehicles are made to crumple on impact to actually cause less damage to the driver) i would\'ve thought that at some point that branch wouldn\'t have been able to go thru it...

Then again,..lookin at the pic the metal wall looks like it\'s not that thick at all...meh in any case this guy is lucky...

firewalls aren\'t bullet proof, people.

Only the sheetmetal used in body panels, hood, and front fascia is designed to crumple in a collision.  The firewall is actually supposed to be as strong as possible to prevent intrusions from the engine bay into the passenger compartment.  The only thing I can figure is that the tree came in under the edge of the firewall.  Otherwise it makes no sense.

Unless Chrysler recently decided to move Jeep production to China.
