Too funny joker......my thoughts?...I felt it was truly a historic moment first and foremost for afri. americans, knowing the racial history of america and actually seeing Obama win,...for me it\'s like a once in a lifetime event, especially for my parents that grew up in the deep south and faced many hurdles and laws of inequality at almost every turn,..this was indeed a special event for them.

But this is also great for america in general....i think the younger generation came out and made their voices heard....when i looked out at McCain while he was giving his concession speech( and while i do understand that most whites vote republican)...his crowd was made up of mostly whites...not a bad thing mind you, but when i looked over at Obama\'s crowd(during his acceptance speech),...there were white, black, asian, latino and everything in between...to see over 100,000 people of different backgrounds together and crying tears of joy together because of what just transpired,..was truly a beautiful sight and that is an america that i envision...:fro:

And we have made progress as a country as far as race relations go....cnn released some stats stating that obama recieved more white votes than both kerry & gore when they were vying for the presidency,..that is an achievement in itself, and while we may still have some white folks that won\'t vote for a black person, it\'s clear that most of them have looked beyond the color of Obama\'s skin and determined that they will base their vote on his merits and his policies, but it\'s also a testament to how Obama can bring people together....Obama is black, but he never let race be a factor, even with the jerimiah wright fiasco,...he gave a great speech on race and squashed any questions anybody might have had on that issue.

I understand that Obama may not be able to turn things around in the first couple of years or maybe even in his first term, but i think he gives america the best chance at a recovery of the economy and i feel he can restore america\'s image on the international front....it still really hasn\'t hit me yet that he\'s prez,...i remember watching movies like "the 5th element" that had a black prez and i would always say.."yeah right never in a million years..:p"...it was always a given that most blacks were going to vote for him, but he couldn\'t have won this election unless some white folks looked passed the racial barrier and judged him on the issues, the debates, and his merits...yes other ethnic groups helped pushed him over as well, but i honestly don\'t think he could\'ve won without them.....so to those white folks and other ethnic groups that gave Obama a chance...thank you for looking past the color of his skin....:applause:

I guess i need to mention McCain, damn i\'m already writing a book so i\'ll keep it short,..McCain bowed out gracefully in his concession speech and i honestly felt a bit sorry for him,..the way McCain came across in that speech,..that is the mccain that i respected and known to have an incredible amount of integrity and intelligence...i wish him well in the future.

McCain respect Obama very much. He showed that at a townhall meeting when he had to correct some ignorant rednecks about Obama. That if he should be elected, they should not fear him and that he\'s a very respectable person. When people booed, he grimaced and looked like he wanted to kick some asses in there.

If McCain had won 8 years ago instead of W. Bush, there would\'ve been no Iraqi War. He would have told Rumsfeld to pack it probably.

He should have run as John McCain and not as what his advisors/GOP wanted him to run as.

The same John that ran the last time.

He garnered MUCH more respect from me than he previously had after his concession speech. A class act all of the way.

" I will do what I can to support MY president"

Too bad he probably wont have a shot in hell in 2012 b/c of this campaign.

McCain ran his whole campaign on the "Maverick" idea and came across as a loose cannon. That is why people like me, didn\'t support him. You could tell with his concession speech, that this really wasn\'t the case. It\'s a shame that he didn\'t run his campaign with that same dignity.

Even then, I don\'t think it matters all. Obama was a given winner during this election for many reasons.

I think he\'s done running for President.  Hopefully we\'ll see some new fresh faces in 2012.

HAha...well i wouldn\'t say that...i just don\'t see anybody else comin\' down the pike with the integrity and stature of somebody like obama for awhile...at least when somebody else does come down the pike, it won\'t be as big a deal as this event was. When this thing first started out with the democrats, i thought hillary was gonna win this thing hands down. I was shocked Obama made it as far as he did.

While i do respect him for saying that, in all honesty, he had to...could you imagine the backlash if he didn\'t? Him amd Palin was to blame for partially inciting  those theories....with statements like "who is the real barack obama? and "can we trust him" and Palin\'s "he paly\'s around with terrorists" statement"...and then to top it off with speakers that\'ll state "barack HUSSIEN obama"....was just wrong, yes that\'s his name, but we all know what they were trying to imply.... they were really trying to challenge the man\'s patriotism and frame him as unamerican.

McCain never had a message throughout his campaign and whatever message he had got lost between "i\'m a maverick" and his variety of different messages and attacks on obama..nobody knew the theme of his campaign. I still say to this very day that he should\'ve picked romney as vp...imagine the outcome if he would\'ve picked him especially at the time of the economic breakdown? I think McCain probably still would\'ve lost, but i don\'t think McCain would\'ve lost as many red states had he been on the ticket.
