Anybody have to send their PS2 back to Sony
« on: December 27, 2000, 05:49:17 PM »
I have had my PS2 since Oct and just recently bought a DVD and no can do....\'disc error\'. I had to send it back to a Sony service station in Michigan for repair or whatever they do. Anybody else have to do this? How long did it take to get the PS2 back? I am having some major withdraws. I stil have my Dreamcast but it does not compare.

It looks like I\'m going to have to send my American PS2 into Sony for repairs.  The stupid thing will play DVDs and CDs fine (go fig...) but not PSX and PS2 format software.  Now I keep getting "Disc Error" every time.  None of my discs are badly scratched, so I don\'t think the problem lies within the software I\'m using.  All my games run fine on my friend\'s PS2.

I contacted SCEA this afternoon and they told me that it would take 15-20 business days to fix my PS2 AFTER the tech department receives it.  That kinda ticks me off, especially when it stops working after only a month and a half.  I purchased a Best Buy replacement plan on it (I work there) but it does no good when there\'s nothing in stock to replace it with.  I would really like to get back to playing FFIX, but my modded PSX is broken, thanks in part to my brother.

Oh well, I guess there\'s always Bleem........

My first PS2 took a month and a day to get back...  10 days of which was UPS Ground.

Hey sorry about your problems with the system.  When I got my Dreamcast in the Mail it had a bad Laser Oscillator and wouldn\'t detect any discs at all.  So I sent mine in and didn\'t get it back for like a month.  It really sucked.  So, I\'m sure there\'s a major reason, but I wish it wouldn\'t take these companies so long just to send you back your machine.  The place I was supposed to send the DC to, I think they were called "MYTEAM" or something like that, gave me an extra phone cord, *big deal*, and 2 hats.  So it\'s not like they treated me badly with service.  Actually quite friendly on the phone.  How were they with Sony when you talked to them?  I know it doesn\'t really affect the system, but I still love friendly and good service.  I just wish they weren\'t so slow.

I got mine on christmas not very surprising but the PSX1 and 2 games work haven\'t checked DVDS but we will see what happens. hmmm if my PSX2 broke and I have the wait a month SONY is gonna hear from me hehe. I think we should get treated better I mean without us there would be no them(them=sony and psx2) but I guess it all balances out they make it we play it...and buy it

I was one of the lucky ones to get my PS2 on launch day, but after only a week of having it it took a dump. I sent the thing to Sony in CA, and was told it would take 7-10 business days to be fixed once the tech got it. After the tenth business I called Sony for the hundredth time to only find out that my system was in Boston and it still wasn\'t fixed.  So to make a long story short it took over a month to get my system back. Fortunatly it\'s been working great since.

Even thouhg you might not have your system for a month, send your ps2 to get fixed!!!I ****ed up my ps2 ( my niece dropped it to the floor) and it still works, but I\'m still sending it back because they can fix any future plans or I will get a new ps2, and also, a new 90 day warrranty period.

Yeah, I was also told over the phone that they\'d extend my warranty for free.  I didn\'t have time to send mine in today, so I have to wait until Monday.  But at least it\'s going to get fixed.  I can survive for a while without it I guess......
