I picked up the 36" sony wega 400xbr a few weeks back. It went for about $3200 out the door with the custom stand designed for it, a 5 year warranty and deliver/set-up from good guys.
I have been extremely pleased with it. 36" is the biggest tv you can get without having to worry about screen "burn-in" found in projection tv\'s. There is one 52" panasonic that has no burn in but it goes for 12 grand.
The 400xbr is a HDTV ready tv which means it can support and display high def sources like DVD and HDTV. There is also a 4x line doubler that works horizontaly and vertically so you can get an amazingly good picture from just regular old cable (without lines through it). DirectTV is reccommended though if you really want to be happy.
DVDs look amazing, very film like and detailed, friends always go "WOW" when they first see it.
The User Interface and remote is really well done also. Great features and easy to use.
It is also worth mentioning that there is support for up to 2 componet connections, 2 svideo connections and 3-4 (i forget exactly) composite connections. So there is lots of room to play.
PS2 and dreamcast look absolutely amazing running through s-video on this. If you are a hard-core gamer, I highly reccomend it!
