Well I\'m not sure exactly how much that is; I\'m unaware of the exchange rate.  But if you can get a TV with Component jacks(Red, Green Blue) then that\'s the bomb I hear.

Otherwise S-video is nice and it\'s what I use on my 27" Zenith, $329 from Sears.

A good TV for 150 pounds?????
« Reply #2 on: December 31, 2000, 06:30:20 PM »
Well for that amount of money it may be hard to get a really good TV, I suggest a Sony VVega, since they are the best. I know for a fact that 1 pound is equal to $1.50 in the US, so for about double of what you were willing to spend you could get a 27" VVega, or you could do some hunting and get the 20" VVega. Its too bad I can\'t recommend my TV because it costlike 1500 pounds(its the Sony wega XBR400,its worth the money). By the way, the reason I keep pushing the VVega is because it can resolve PS2 resolution effortlessly. Component video is the way to go.

I just got a 31" RCA TV with audio ins and outs with S-Video jack.

It cost me about $279 US (on sale at Bradlees) and is awesome!!

Well, I did upgrade from a 19", so....take that for what its worth!!  :D

Anyway, how much is 150 UK?

*sigh*

It\'s spelled Wega, pronounced Vega.  No big deal I guess. :)

taking a hint from the germans, looks like

Volkswagon, is pronounced volksvagon

*useless tidbit of knowledge*
adolf hitler was responsible for naming them volksvagon, it literally means "cars for the people"

Volkswagen (VW) is pronounced \'folksvagen\'. :)

Those Germans are crazy (uh, hey The Eye ;)). Nah, they make fine cars.

Well the good people on Ars say it\'s not supposed to be a W it\'s just a normal V with a cool shadow on the logo.

Well, I don\'t know about that nO-One, but on Sony\'s own site it says "WEGA TV\'S". There\'s also this little explanation:

nO-One- Ars is definitley not the place I\'d go to for Home Theater info. :)

http://www.sony.com/wega (although vega also works in the url, look in the address bar, it says wega either way).  Now put your pointer over the big word WEGA at the top, it says \'Pronounced VAY•guh.\'

Also go to http://www.sonystyle.com and you will see the word Wega throughout the site.

OK, in the German language "W" is pronounced as a "V" would sound.  So WEGA is the right spelling, while VEGA is how you\'d pronounce it.  Hope this clears up everything.

heres an idea, you dont really need to buy a new tv just for your ps2. of course if you really want to then go mad, but my suggestion would be to buy the adaptor, that allows full function of the ps2, and your DVD, yet hooks directly into your tv with just one snap!(no more 3 tricky cords).

Yeah, but you lose MAJOR quality when using an R/F adaptor.  I got a great Panasonic 27 inch with S-video and Component inputs for 350.  The model is CT-27D20 if you want to check it out.
