It not even worth arguing this one. FAct is if someone thinks they are seeing an elephant, regardless of what you say they are going to see that elephant.

We will see the damage the XBOX, and possibly fisher price(opps I ment NGC) will have on psx2. Only time will tell my friends, but to me it looks like sony is doing a sega saturn.(in a way, but not exactly)

SONY PSX2:
Difficult to program for "very difficult"(*developers will spend more time on coding than  expressing creatvity, which will also be limited)
graphics capabilites are a joke to GC, and XBOX
no HDD included
No enternet card included
2 controller ports(not that big of a deal)

zzzzzzzzzz..... and yada, yada, yada

What about Half Life? It sold well, but so did Who Wants to be a Millionaire. And console games sell better than PC games. Even a popular million seller like HL can\'t reach the numbers Tony Hawk, Final Fantasy, or any other decent console seller gets. Take FF for example. Hugely popular. PC graphics for FF8 was a lot better than the PS version, it still didnt touch the numbers the PSX version did.

Oh yeah one more thing MS is extremely strict when coming to ports. Unlike sony. If in any case they allow a port then the game must be enhanced to the bone, new levels new game play, new this new that. Any game that goes to ms will be reviewed to make sure it fit\'s there high expectations
or else will be rejected. Either quality game it is or no xbox it goes on. SOny on the other hand will ****en allow pretty much anything , like a spice girl game. MS wants there system to only be filled with a library of quality games.

I\'m just saying, you might think that PC gaming is advoided, or secondary.  PC is the only system with BROADBAND(up to T3+) capabilities, and you are counting it out.  I still have lots of fun with Red Alert(1 and 2), and HL Counterstrike.  Why count the PC out, it\'s more capable than any console will be.

and another thing, why are we only looking at the bad things?  Everyone has been saying that Dreamcast will be buried this fall, PS2 will suffer damage, and X-Box vs. NGC will be an epic battle.  What the hell?  How about the people that own those systems... once X-box comes out we\'ll find things that it lacks, or liabilities.  For example, in a pic floating around somewhere, X-box is nearly twice the size of the PS2... and the NGC looks like a lunch box... I\'m sorry but it\'s true...

I didnt count PC out, I\'m saying XB thus far isnt a port box, and its unfair to label it as such. And I pointed out a fact about the PC markets size. I didnt blame the PC, or say it sucked.

We are going to face the fact that X-Box is no more a PC than the PS2 is.  However, it deserves the title port box, cause you can only imagine the loads of Microsoft games which are being ported to the X-box... they will infact make X-box and PC versions of the same games...

I never said It wont happen (PSX2CENTRAL did). I simply said it was speculation, and to diss a system because of speculation is stupid.

WRONG MS offically said no pc ports = no ms flight simulator or what ever they do in pc gamming. They said they will not port ms games from the pc. If MS does make a game for xbox like ms baseball or a flight game then it will be built from the scratch for the xbox, meaning it will differ from it\'s pc conter part.
Billy please don\'yt assume get the facts right.

A step back in what sense?  Is reinventing the wheel a technical advancement?  You seem to be a bit mixed up here.  The fact of the matter is that better games can be made from existing techology.  If you weren\'t so anti-Microsoft, you would see that the console industry is moving FORWARD towards PC/Mac-like architectures.  Sony are the ones taking the step back.  This industry is not about the technology that drives the games, but the games that drive the technology.  Developers can now spend time using what they already know to make great content.  Technology has been the blessing and the malediction for the games industry.  On one hand, the games look more real, but on the otherhand, they\'re the same **** we\'ve been playing for years.  With every new "cutting-edge" console that comes out, developers have to wrestle with technology instead of building unique concepts and play mechanics.  I think Sony chose a good name for their console when they call it the "Playstation 2".  It\'s just the Playstation with better graphics...nothing else.  If that\'s your cup o tea, that\'s fine.  But it\'s not mine.  Games like JGR and Shenmue prove what games are like with accessible technology. Don\'t worry about Xbox\'s power not being utilized either, because everyone who programs knows how to utilize Xbox\'s power, because they\'ve been using that technology for the last 20 years.  You need to shift your concerns to the PS2 instead.

As I said before, no good can come from the X-Box\'s success and because of that, I hope they lose in the end... the message of a PC in a box succeeding in an industry that provides PC gaming with it\'s biggest competition is just a huge step backwards.  Mini PC\'s vs consoles... if I wanted a mini PC, I\'d buy a laptop. [/B][/QUOTE]

That didn\'t make much sense, but I\'ll try to respond to it.  Dreamcast is a PC in the box and GC is a Mac in the box.  That\'s where the game industry is heading, towared PC-like architechture that is more powerful.  You people seem to believe that different is always good and that a game system should be radically different that everything else.  Well, that will stagnate the games industry, or even worse, take it in the wrong direction.  Your argument about PC technology being a step backward is, well, backwards because, the PS2 is a step backwards as far as design philosophy is concerned.  You see, anyone can make a VERY POWERFUL chip, but the real step forward is the philosophy behind the technology.  Is it easily accessible?  Is it cost effective?  And so on.  I think developers like LionHead will show us the benefits of Xbox technology.  Sure it\'s basically PC, but now\'s the time for developers to focus on content instead of glitz and glamor.

Reverend your presents here is always welcome, cause you speak the truth, you say it like it is. Very well said my friend, we will see when e3 comes round what all the psx2 fanboys will say, when MS shows what the NV2a can do.

PS. Haven\'t seen you at msxbox forums for a while???

Number one, Xbox will be the most powerful platform period when it\'s released.  It will take a few months for PC\'s to reach Xbox\'s power.  In fact even if PC\'s do reach Xbox power, they won\'t be affordable for a while.  You\'re talking about a $15,000 PC built specifically for gaming.

Number two, PC games have to be scaled down to cover the wide variety of CPU and GPU configurations, so while PC\'s may match Xbox power-wise, the games won\'t reflected.  Keyword: Lowest-common-denominator (Joe Blow with a Pentium II 200 MHz and a Voodoo 2 card).
