I wish sony would have thought of this....
« on: February 04, 2001, 10:34:10 AM »
I was reading this...
http://www.nvidia.com/Home.nsf/nvidianews1.html
When I came across this:

Quote

Our DirectX 8 Development Kit is based on the most advanced graphics hardware and software ever built for PC and console development

Quote

The next generation GPU that forms the heart of the DirectX 8 Development Kit is the most sophisticated of its kind and will be the first to be used for both PC and console content creation

Quote

With NVIDIA\'s support and direction, our games will look outstanding on both Xbox and the desktop PC.

hmm...

BOTH the PC and XBOX..
And its NOT the portbox...

If the x-box even becomes a success, will it be bogged down by games that were designed for the PC?
That it was easy for the developers to include the x-box in its plans...

I have no further comment

I said something similar to this in the beginning.  The design of the X-Box and MS\'s intentions behind are a step backwards in the console industry and a step closer to the PC industry.  A lil while ago I said that MS had little to no innovation with their design and just borrowed a PC style engine and moved into a box that just wasn\'t as versatile as a PC, and now this just goes to fully prove my suspicions.  PC ports\\X-Box ports made simultaneously?  That\'s like saying "here is the x-box, more powerful then any PC, reduced to a strength that is good enough only for the current generation PC."  I don\'t know about anyone else, but what\'s the point of all the graphical power if it won\'t even be utilized?

As I said before, no good can come from the X-Box\'s success and because of that, I hope they lose in the end... the message of a PC in a box succeeding in an industry that provides PC gaming with it\'s biggest competition is just a huge step backwards.  Mini PC\'s vs consoles... if I wanted a mini PC, I\'d buy a laptop.

When I argue, you ignore the facts I present Ryu, so it\'d be useless to argue with you, or any MS haters.

Ok, let me say this, although I\'m sure you\'ll refute it... You guys are ASSUMING these things. How do you know that, infact, future XB games wont be ported to PC? Why would you assume the opposite? That\'s a big assumption, and since this is their first console, your assumptions are baseless. If it happens the way you guys think, diss them then, don\'t diss them for what you think might happen.

So, instead of presenting your points, you proceed to belittle the "MS haters" and call them morons... nice logic there, especially when you yourself boycott Sony products, but I suppose I can call you a "Sony Hater" given how we are using labels today.  Oh well, you\'re logic makes perfect sense when you label Sony as the Sega killer when they OBVIOUSLY did it to themselves.  I dunno, maybe they didn\'t, I mean... Sony did invent the 32X, Sega Saturn, and Sega CD for them right?

As for the assumption about PC gaming and X-Box gaming, dont we buy consoles for what the system WILL have games wise?  I know I am buying PS2 for the exclusive titles... same reason why people buy sega or nintendo... but what am i buying for x-box if i can have what it has on my PC?  That\'s my question.

You can call me a limp wristed fag for all I care...
1-My opinion of Sega/Sony can be seen in Chrono\'s post about DC\'s death. I\'m right, and Sega CD and Saturn rocked.

2-The fact remains there are exclusives announced for XB, and likely more will be announced up to, and during E3. The potntial for ports doesn\'t mean anything more than that it\'s possible. There\'s still no reason to assume anything about XB. PS2 is OUT. I\'m being critical of a system I OWN. My boycott has nothing to do with speculation, or any of the other foolish things YOU enjoy doing.

In summary= I\'m right, your still wrong (to assume, and misplace the blame on Sega\'s death. Your allowed any opinion you want, but the facts are the facts, regardless if the few lamers on the board agree with you.)

You\'re too FOS to even debate with any more.  "I\'m right, you\'re wrong"  "Sega died because sony killed it and made gaming more available to people who just wanted to have fun from time to time" (almost like saying in order to be a gamer, you have to be like YOU and that\'s just scary) "sega didn\'t release those things that bombed and they were great because I say they were" (sega saturn was great, but face it, it crashed and burned like a newbie playing After Burner) "the facts are the facts, sony killed sega and I boycott them for that and Sega had NOTHING to do with it\'s own death."  Could you spew anymore BS?

Sony didn\'t make Sega charge 400 for a Saturn, Sony didn\'t invent the Saturn and make third parties have a hell of a time developing for it, and Sony didn\'t cause the 32X and the SegaCD to bomb.  All of those things IN ADDITION to sony\'s success in the console industry caused Sega\'s death.  Those are facts and you\'re full-hardy attempt to suade those issues away from Sega and make them all Sony\'s fault are falling on def ears.  Anyone who refuses to buy products because of a company name is sad and not a true gamer.  I\'d also like to reiterate I\'m getting an X-Box at launch, so no bashing there... but hey, your boycott on Sony products is about equal to you pirating games for the DC.  How many did you say you pirated?  That\'s the same as not buying Sega products.  I guess you\'re exempt from that though right?  Oh well, say what you want... Sega died because of numerous reasons before Sony even came around and if you can\'t handle that, then you are a sad human being.

No, Sony made PS2 hell for developers, but they can buy their way....

Obviously the \'summary\' thing was a joke, I\'m sorry you took it personally...

I responded (as much as I\'ll bother) to the Sega/Saturn/failure thing in Chrono\'s other thread. And Sega didn\'t die before Sony came along, sure, they made mistakes, but nothing that would kill them.

And for the piracy thing there, I own ~50 DC originals. Owning 250+ bootlegs doesn\'t indicate my support of Sega in the least. I bought every game I could afford. And ~50 of the bootlegs are real backups, I actually have backups of every legit game I own. And for the record I have had a PS2 since launch, and a own a dozen original games. The only reason I have to boycott them is for moral reasons (yes, morals can span to non important things too). Even if you take Sega out of the equation, I don\'t like the direction Sony unchallenged would take the industry. Sega is just the final thing that made me go as far as to boycott. If you cared about gaming, or any industry enough, you\'d take a stand when nessasary. Do I think Sony cares? No. But thats no reason for you to keep bringing my boycott up, like I\'m some whiney kid throwing a tantrum. I\'m exercising my right as a consumer, and if you can\'t respect that, that\'s your problem.

To tell you the truth, I think that this will hinder X-Box\'s sales, I mean most people have a computer, and the same graphics chip will be coming out for the computer?  Why bother going to a secondary source to play the same game?
