Man! you nintendo fans blindly believe that nintendo is going to amaze you, your are going to be dissapointed.

Ugh. I see you ignored my argument.

I don\'t see how  you would know if us Nintendo supporters will be disapointed( I was never disapointed with them with the exception of Virtual Boy).  Don\'t make dumb statements like that again.

You said that space world was going to be great, IMO it was the final drop for me, I give nintendo a last chance at e3.

*sigh* Nintendo completely bazzled everyone at Spaceworld. Even the fanboys were impressed. What the **** did they drop? That was way more impressive then any Sony showing of some sort and a lot more impressive than GameStock.

PS- I didn\'t say ****. I never knew about SW till it was over.

Please refrain from replying unless you want me to actually put some effort into my post.

Your bringing up the Camera buttons argument? Thats pretty weak if you ask me.

Also, Nintendo stated various times that they wanted to fix up all their problems that they had with the N64 and make GameCube the anti-N64( I can even get a link on that).

What is so weak about the Camera button argument? You are bragging about Nintendo\'s great controllers and the N64 sucked. Sure, it was the first Analog controller, but come on every other console has had a better one. Saturn? Had a great one. PS dual Shock? Excellent. DC? Great (tho the pad lacks. N64? Decent.

As for the Camera buttons, that was a stupid idea. What the hell was they thinking? Wait, don\'t answer that . They was thinking that developers was going to give gamers full control over the camera at any time, apparently. Great idea, problem with it is the other games suffer because of a HUGE stupid mistake on Nintendo\'s part.  And lets face it, that is one huge reasons (of many) that the N64 had less then 10 fighters (maybe 5!) and all sucked. Killer Instinct Gold could have been decent if the controller didn\'t suck so bad. War Gods was horrible to begin with, but was even worse with the N64 controller. MK Trilogy? No comments. Fighters Destiny or wtf ever? Crapola! Now sure, you can\'t say that these games wouldn\'t of been crap if the N64 controller was better, but it sure didn\'t help them.

And what about that great Virtual Boy controller? Another brilliant idea from Nintendo on what is "original". Tip: Original isn\'t worth having if it cannot be executed properly.
;)

I haven\'t had the chance to use the GC controller, of course, so I won\'t say its horrible. But, I do have my doubts on it being "user friendly". Nintendo hasn\'t had a decent controller since the SNES (which holds the award of "best damn controller" still!).

It couldn\'t of sucked if it sold over 1 million. Nintendo fans know their games believe it or not. The good
games always sell well( Goldeneye, Banjo, Zelda, Wave Race) and the crappy ones don\'t.

Not true. There has been plenty of games that well that really suck. Mortal Kombat 3 , anyone?
And there are plenty of great games that don\'t sell well. Your a Nintendo/RARE fan, so you should remember (and OWN) one of the greatest if not greatest N64 game (and by far the best RARE game).... BLAST CORPS . I\'ve noticed in alot of these debates you and other Nintendo fans bring up the \'classic N64 titles\' and totally forget about such a sleeper hit. And in my personal opinion, that and GoldenEye is the only two games Rare did on the N64 worth any attenion. The point being to this whole thing is, stats for the most part can lie. It doesn\'t judge if a game is good or not. I haven\'t had the chance nor do I really want to play Super Smash Bros, but I just thought I would point out that just because it sold alot, does not mean it was a great game--infact, with a franchise such as Mario, it could be utter CRAP and sell alot.

Yes, they have and I hope they do. I for one, have such fond memories of the NES/SNES. I rushed to buy a N64 and from day one, I was dissapointed. While, Nintendo was never a favorite company of mine (Sega was) I still held alot of respect for them, until the N64, now I am just sadden by some of the choices they have made. They ignored the mature gamer for the most part (save for a few games, i.e, Perfect Dark, Conkers bad fur day,etc ). And then ignored the 2D game lovers who grew up with them. Where was our classic Mario? Mario 64 was great, but it would of been excellent to see Mario taking advantage of the N64 in 2D also sometime or another. Then when Square left , it left the N64 without RPGS \'cept two Zelda titles and now at the end of the systems life, Paper Mario. While, I am not a Square fan, that was another missing catergory for the N64. No fighting games. No 2D games. No RPGs. What was left? Nothing, except Rare and Nintendo trying to keep the system alive. Point being: I truly hope Nintendo can and does fix the problems that plagued the N64 (beyond the obviously fixed cartridges idea). The SNES was an excellent system and it would be great to see Nintendo to reclaim such glory. But, I remain skeptical on it happening.

Will this be the end of 2d?? We will see soon ;0

No way, man! It still has quite abit of life left in it. But, I\'ve accepted that once Capcom leaves the 2D games behind, it will be dead. It seems alot of the new "mainstream gamers" don\'t understand 2D. :(

EDIT : Can a MOD please move this to console debating, as it has turned into a console debate thread.

Everyone knows that that idea was based around Mario64. Nintendo knew it was a problem but couldn\'t afterwards but couldn\'t fix it because they had many other problems to deal with.

Relevance? It doesn\'t matter how they felt, n64 has it first. :p

Ugh, shut up about the camera buttons. I thought we were talking about GameCube dammit.

Man now your talking about the Virtual Boy controller... **** stay on topic.

Please explain why you have your doubts on it not being user-friendly. I want to hear it.

....What?

I\'ll just assume you meant to put "sell" in there. Anyways, 1 game? HA. Do better than that.

Irrelevant but... PSX has so many crappy games that would sell pretty good. Just goes to show you that the casual gamer is an idiot.

That game sold over a million dood. I have no idea what your going on about.

BTW- that game sucked IMO.

SOME should of been the key word in there...

I can\'t see how your not impressed with Nintendo\'s current line-up with NGC. It has plenty of mature games in it and it will probably have another magnificant stand out title.(a goldeneye like hit)

I for one have faith in Nintendo.They\'ve been enormously successful once and there\'s nothing stopping them for being all mighty again.  It\'s not like they\'ve gotten worse or anything. Sega proved after a horrible failure( CD,32X, Saturn) that they can still be great. Who says Nintendo can\'t bounce back like Sega did with something amazing like the Dreamcast?

Wouldn\'t it be hard to port a 2d fighter on GC? Doen\'t it have even less v-ram than ps2, wasn\'t it 3mb or something? just wondering....

You guys are wondering what console will get the next 2D fighter.  I think a better question is what is the next 2d fighter?  There is nothing new in the arcades to port over, and I\'m really starting to wonder what can be done with the 2d fighter genre?  What more is there?  Everything has been done to death.  Add more characters?  MvsC2\'s 70+ characters should be enough.  Add more moves?  That won\'t change the gameplay enough.

The end looks like it is nearer than we all want it to be for 2d fighters. :(

The only solution that I can think of is making a whole new series.  As much as I hate to say this, GET RID OF RYU AND KEN!  Throw out the whole Street Fighter series and start from scratch.  On the SFAlpha 3 animated movie, it says, "This is dedicated to the tenth aniversery of Street Fighter 2" (Something along the lines of that.  I can\'t remember it word for word.)  10 years?!  That is insane.

I know a lot of you will probably dissagree with what I said, but I really think they need to get something completely new.

 what the heck happened? This thread was supposed to be about 2d fighter games and ended up being full of arguments about nintendo and xbox controllers and what not.

Any ways i really hope the 2d fighter games does not die out. It would be interesting to see what new characters capcom would come out with. As IronFist said Street Fighter has been around for some time now and maybe they should just start from scratch. Like Boulevard Fighter or ....Avenue Fighter....get it? street fighter...boulevard..avenue...ok that wasnt funny but anyways it would be so sad for 2d fighter games to just die out and not come out for ps2. Its a classic type of game and it should be on one of the greatest consoles of all time (greatest console of all time referring to the ps2). Well I for one really hopes that 2d fighter games do come over to the ps2...if they dont, that would suck...then again thats just my opinion. :crying:
Oro?!?

actually, the information can be streamed from system memory every frame.  C\'mon guys there is still a super fast pipeline from the system RAM.  And the 4mb on the GPU has always only been a frame buffer not VRAM.  The PS2 can do 2D with the best of them... hopefully it\'ll start.

This is something that I posted on when I first joined the board.  I was over begging on the Capcom board for them to please heed my cries!  (Low-brow DoODs and flaming trolls unfortunately drove me away)

With the bus width of the PS2 alone, couldnt 4MB of VRAM and transferring pixel rates be enough to do excellent Capcom 2D fighters?  Remember MSH vs. SF on Saturn?  It was AWESOME.  Almost perfect.

It only takes one company, and that is Capcom.  Of course, it also takes Sony to loosen up, but, thats another subject altogether.  I am very very surprised as well to hear NOTHING on the front of 2D fighters.

BTW, I just played Cap. vs. SNK for the first time, and it is AWESOME.  A little easy but great nonetheless!

PLEASE SONY!!  LET CAPCOM MAKE GOOD 2D FIGHTERS!!

the 2d fighter game that i would really like to see come over to the ps2 is SNK vs Capcom on the Dreamcast. My friend owns the import version and its unbielivably fun. We spent hours beating the crap out of each other on it. Another game that I would love to see is Garou , its a SNK 2d fighter once again and I have it on my comp using a neo geo emulator. Since its SNK I doubt that it will cross over to the ps2 ever. BUt i can still wish cant I? Please let their be some kind of 2d street fighter game for the ps2.
Oro?!?

Have you seen the costume editor in Cap vs SNK?  It is so cool!  Each guy can have 2 custom costumes.  I made Ken into a cool Noob Saibot look-alike. :)  I also gave Ryu an all black costume with a red head band and a red belt thing (I don\'t know what those belts are called :)).
