2d fighter game for ps2
« on: March 15, 2001, 12:12:38 AM »
Wats up people??!!? Im surprised there wasnt a two-D styled fighter game out for the ps2 . I mean even though the ps2 is capable of doing so much more, its a classic must have type of game . I mean there should be a Street Fighter game for the ps2 already. I dont mean 3d street fighter either , i  mean something like the alpha series , or something similar to that. come on capcom dont fail me now. Any news would be much appreciated.
Oro?!?

LOVE AND PEASU!!! LOVE AND PEASU!!! LOVE AND PEASU!!!

2d gams on ps2 are hardly possible, coz it only has 4mb of vram. The death of dc means the death of 2d games :( sorry :( :(

Yeah your right. I was just being optomistic. I think with the death of DC this will be the end of descent 2D fighting. Xbox surely won\'t get anything from Capcom but....

GameCube has the slightest chance out of the three of them, seriously. There is rumoured to be another Super Smash Bros game on the way for it and it will probably appear in 2D form. If the game has good software sales then that might just give the go ahead for Capcom to make 2D fighters on NGC and problem solved. :)

It\'s a longshot, but it\'s still very possible.

Not really true. Capcom could find a way to stream them and what not. Still, it is dissapointing. But tht doesn\'t limit the 2D games for the GC or Xbox! Capcom could support either one. Xbox support depends on how well it does in Japan, if it does well rest assure that Capcom will release some great 2D games on it. Personally, I can\'t imagine playing Street Fighter with the GC controller--though with the new 4 button config instead of 6, it could very easy...

I must admit, I am somewhat if not very dissapointed that there has not been a 2D or even mention of 2D game for the PS2.

While some people may think 2D is dead, I still believe it is the best option for almost any genre. Platform, fighting, shooters? 2D! The 3D "realm" still has to many glitches to deliver a game like Strider or the tight control of Street Fighter (notice I mentioned Capcom titles? :D ) ... But, when 2D is officaly over--I\'ll retire my game systems and walk away with fond memories..

:)

Seriously, I doubt know what is so terrible about the controller. The D-Pad may LOOK out of place but IGNCube clarified that it\'s actually not very far away from the analog stick AT ALL. Fighting games can easily be made on the NGC. Namco has already stated they that they want to make GameCube their "Target System". Obviously they don\'t have a problem with the controller since they are experts at fighting games.

If your refering to the button setup then let me explain it to you:

There is a big A button.
There is a button to the left of the big A button.
There is a button to the top of the big A button.
There is a button to the right of the big A button.
There are two shoulder buttons.
(The Z-Trigger will most likely not be used in fighting games btw)

Pretty simple if you ask me.

Your opinion. And Nintendo doesn\'t make this game, HAL does.

That game was all about multiplayer, and it shined brightly in that area. The game was pathetically easy to learn and surprisingly fun. All of my friends had a blast while playing it. The game couldn\'t of been crappy if it sold well over a million copies.

Killer Instinct 3 is on the way. :) Expect that to be a launch title from the amazing Rare.

btw, nintendo controllers sucKKK!!! The n64 controller was the worst invention for a gaming system, the gamcubes looks better(but still kiddie and crap), but now way it can beat the dual shock

And...NO I cant play tekken with a gc controller, its too bulky and the buttons are out of place. I\'ll wait and see if namco really is targetting for gc. All its games announced sc2 tekken4 rr6 and more are all for ps2. Maybe they will be ported...who cares about ports anyway??

btw I dont hate nintendo i\'m jsut dissapointed with n64 and GC :( :( I wish them the best

I WANT KILLER INSTINCT 3!!!!!!

Like I said, it could be easy if Capcom continues using the 4 button method instead of six.

And still, the whole button setup being "great"--the same thing was said about those damn C camera angle buttons and we see how they turned out.

(P.S, how dumb of an idea was that in the first place? Camera buttons? Geeeeeze!)

Again, your opinion,but...
Kiddie? Now that was just ignorant and biased. Take a look at the black one and say that with a straight face.

BTW- Dual Shock2= SNES and N64 RIP-OFF. Nintendo\'s controllers couldn\'t of sucked if Sony copied them.

No way beat the PS2 controller? When have you have the chance to hold it?

Like I said, the buttons ARE NOT OUT OF PLACE.

Would you like me to show you a picture to prove that the NGC is perfect and not out of place in any way. i dare you to.

Ports won\'t suck when they get ported to a superior system...

Wait till E3, don\'t make a final judgement till then.

Disapointed with GameCube? HOW? It\'s not even out yet, you can\'t make a judgement like that without being bias.

It couldn\'t of sucked if it sold over 1 million. Nintendo fans know their games believe it or not. The good games always sell well( Goldeneye, Banjo, Zelda, Wave Race) and the crappy ones don\'t.

It was just a rumour, but IGNCube seems pretty confident about it and they\'re pretty reliable.

Man! you nintendo fans blindly believe that nintendo is going to amaze you, your are going to be dissapointed.

You said that space world was going to be great, IMO it was the final drop for me, I give nintendo a last chance at e3.

But lets get back to the point, If you are into 2d fighting games buy a dc. we dont even know gc\'s 2d capabilities, xbox also seems to favour 3d over 2d.

Will this be the end of 2d?? We will see soon ;0

Of course, but 3D fighting games could still easily work on NGC with the 6 button method.

Your bringing up the Camera buttons argument? Thats pretty weak if you ask me.

Also, Nintendo stated various times that they wanted to fix up all their problems that they had with the N64 and make GameCube the anti-N64( I can even get a link on that).
