I haven\'t really treid all games, but this is my collection so far and i tell you why i choose it:
Onimush: this a amazing game, one word GET IT! it has Great graphics and fast action gameplay. it is somewhat challanging, but if you are a resident evil guy it should only take you around 4 hours. if your not a RE guy like me then it should take you any number of days to finish. (so far my save has reached 8 hours with about 50 saves and i am still around the middle of the game and still having fun disovering things! ). it\'s hack and slash action , but prerendered backgrounds can annoy sometimes specially when the screen switches or justy the fact you can\'t rotate the sceen in 3D to see difirent views of the room which can sometimes help you discover hidden secrets and stuff. but it makes up for that in the character and monster 3D model design which is briliant. I am not used to the RE controls, but i still felt they could have been better done in another way, such as the controls in soul revear, a bit more straight forward to me. BUY IT!
ZOE: bought it only for the MGS2 demo and it was more than worth it for me. it gives you a good tase of what you will get in MGS2 and that is exciting enough for me! I think i completted the demo at least 5 or 6 times only on the normal mode.. and even finished it on the hardest level once just for fun. there is a tough fight in the end of the demo with a kewl russian chick. ZOE is not all that, it was boring from my first session for some reason. ZOE is briliant in the first few minuts with the cut-scens and all, but once you learn all the controls and you start playing, you only need to use one method to kill all the baddies , which is the close attack, which leaves all the blocking/dodging and manouvaring to waste. unless you like to louse every time. and the story does not get more exciting as you go along.
Ring Of Red: I bought it since i was a front mission series fan ( specially front mission 3 ) but i was still disapointed. The stratigy element gets repetive and you can\'t customize your robots except in putting new pilots ( which can die easily ). so you are stuck with the set of robots you have from the begining. the graphics are average for a PS2 game ( if not less than average ) and there are better places to spend your money on. it has like 20 missions, starts really slow then starts to pick-up , but i reached level 10 and it got boring again.. not sure when i will come back to it ( if i will ).
Other games which i don\'t have but have a good idea about:
Crazy Taxi: i have this one on the DC and heard the PS2 port was almost excatly the same. this game is quite fun and has a lasting apeal. the music alone makes the game worth it for me. fast-paced action, it\'s just so satisfying to pick-up people after you have just smashed the KFC shop while trying to park, then the guy wants to go to the church, and that chick wants to go to play baseball , and you hear the taxi driver say \' ya ya yahhh\' and the taxi driver always gets into these small dicusion with the passengers as they are upset that they are late. i think you can never go board from this game.. only problem is that i now memorized the entire city ( SF ) and i can almost make a predictable 4 or 5 pridictable rides... so your routes can get pridictable in the begining if you choose exactly the same people. i do it offcourse to get the most crazy amount of money/ if you like crazy car action buy it. unless you already have it on DC. if you tried it at the arcades and didn\'t like it, it could be beacuse your not used to it\'s idea ( which is kind of origional ) so i suggest you buy it even if you did not enjoy it at the arcades, once you are a bit used to the idea of pick-ing up people around you will start to get hooked. me and my mates sit for hourse on this one!
Bouncer: Don\'t buy , only rent. the problem here is that i can\'t rent it here ( not available for rent in my country ) and i still resist not to buy it , despite how much excited i was about it before it was released and was able to read the reviews. as a fan of square i was shocked. don\'t fall to it\'s charm as it\'s just a movie at best with some inttreuption of some stupid gameplay from time to time. if cut-scense are more imortant than gameplay for you then buy it. otherwise don\'t buy.
Red Faction: haven\'t tried it, but i hear it\'s good and out now. if you like FPS this looks like an FPS with some origional ideas. but if you can hold out, i think half-life could be better as it supports USB mouse and keyboard, but you might have already played half-life on the PC .. who knows.. i say buy it if you are okay with joypad controls cause it sounds like a smashing FPS.
GT3: You must get this one, problem is will you be long enough in the US for the release date? and if you stayed till launch day which is june 13, maybe you won\'t find it in stock.. i guess you could still maybe order it online or something.. i might do that cause i can\'t wait for this one...
SSX: i hear it\'s all good, but i am saving my money for SSX Tricky as i am not a skate boarding fan so i can hold out a bit longer. and i hear SSX tricky will have framerate improviments and other new moves and combos.
DOA2: HC : Still the best DOA2 game port around, I won\'t buy it cause i have the origional one on DC and i hear the only difirence between them is just some arenas and costumes which is not enough for me to spend the cash on. if you don\'t have any version of DOA2 then you should buy this, as it could be the only DOA game available for PS2 for a while to come ( until they decide to port DOA3 from x-box ) and it really does have some good looking chicks.
TTT: not really smashing.. if you have Tekkin 3 and you don\'t care about the Tag element don\'t buy it. but if you are a hard-core tekkin guy maybe you should.
Ridge Racer: if you liked the origional ridge racers then buy it. i never liked ridge racer, i am more of a gran turosmo guy.
Most other AAA games still didn\'t come out.. i wish i can put my hands on devil may cry, MGS2, Maximo and FFX RIGHT NOW!! Grrrrr...
guys, any other kewl game i missed which are available right now and are a good buy? i propably missed some good ones...
if you haven\'t played chrono triger, there is a new square bundle that includes it, chrono triger is one classic RPG for SNES, if you like square games this is the best square game ever in my opinuin.. hehe ..
