What gets you so mad when someone says, "This console sucks!"

I don\'t usually come to this part of the board, but, I responded to a thread originally started somewhere else and noticed, there are alot of people that get pissed off when someone insults "their console".

I\'m not making this post to down anyone\'s taste in consoles or even their passions for just posting their beliefs in them, I\'m just curious.

What gets you so hyped up when someone tells you the system you like is crap, or even intimates that one may be better than the other?

I understand that people want to make the right decision and get upset when someone else tells them that they have made a poor choice, but, I wanna see if it goes deeper than that.

you know, I think the bias towards a console in a way resembles the bias towards for instance a sports team, I mean think about it, eventhough sometimes teams are inferior to others people still would give their lives for that team, the same goes for consoles

"This console sucks!" I have no problem with this BUT there must be a VERY good reason to say this, i can say that 3do sucked so did jaguar and CDi. I personally am a bit angry at nintendo so thats why i sometime flame them a bit (mind you jumpman ) but that doesn\'t mean i hate them.......

They\'re just pieces of plastic and circuitry for crying out loud.... It\'s not like someone\'s insulting anything of great importance in your lives? Or is it?

I don\'t care what people say about any console, I just get the consoles with the games that I personally want to play. Simple. If there\'s a console with no(t enough) interesting games I\'ll just ignore it. Well, I did ignore N64 for quite some time but ended up buying one anyways. Now I\'m hungry for more "old" consoles, no matter how crappy they might be.

People who insult other consoles than that of their choice are a bit on the silly side (harmless jokes are okay for occasional fun, but a character constantly bashing and mindlessly attacking a certain console should be rewarded with a strait-jacket), and the ones offended by this kind of behaviour are too, imo.

While I don\'t \'have a system\', I feel my duty as a gamer to defend any system against other consoles fanboys *cough*ogodlybozcofastonstroke*cough* who interject themselves negatively whenever possible. I hate word of mouth turning bad for a console because only the fanboys attack it, and no one defends it. You need people defending consoles to counteract the knuckleheads who hate on systems.

well if they are to say a certian console sucks, they must have a ton of evidence to back it up.
otherwise they become labled... by the mods.

In general, I could care less if someone says a certain console sucks, because like music, a console cannot appeal to everyone. Each person has their personal preference. I for one, don\'t think the Jaguar sucked that bad. Sure, it wasn\'t great, but it wasn\'t that bad. The 3DO had a few \'hidden gems\' also.

What does upset me is simple. Ignorance . The constant display of it also. When there is a perfectly rational thread , and someone comes in to just trash another console, for no reason other then they don\'t like it. That is stupid.

How am I a fanboy? I don\'t attack a single console or defend a single console, I just speak my mind.

I really don\'t like to fight with others over consoles. Gaming systems are for peoples entertainment, people have a choice and they choose, people should just play games and not bash the other systems. I personaly prefer PC but I am no fanboy as I enjoy many games on all systems, weather it be PS, PS2, N64,NES,GAMEBOY,SNES,GENESIS and so on, people shold enjoy gaming and not argue over it.

That was wisely said, Hawke. If piece of plastic is so important in your life, that you defend it and get angry to everyone who instult it, like it would be your daughter, you should go to see a doctor

Nah, I fall into that sometimes... but what starts the reaction? I don\'t know. Animal instincts?

I lose no sleep over another\'s opinion. I find it somewhat annoying however, how opinion is usually expressed regarding video games. It is unfortunate that sentiment becomes debased to the point where it seems to be nothing less than children bickering about toys. Pointless when you are a kid, even more so when you are an adult.

I have no worries in this console war, cause I KNOW what ever I choose obviously rules

Well i am not one to jump at this sort of response

but the only reasons i can see why people do this is

1.They spent hard earned money on the system and feel like it was good - only to be ridiculed about their decision

2.They feel threatened for some odd reason

3.They are Biased to the system/company.

4.They hate the other person\'s close mindedness
