Mad Man\'s Cafe reported that Namco has released some basic game details in regards to Tekken 4.
Tekken 4 will be released as a complete sequel to Tekken 3. The game will follow the storyline left off since Tekken 3, unlike Tekken Tag Tournament.
Tekken 4 takes place 2 years into the future of Tekken 3.
Being a sequel and not a dream match like Tekken Tag Tournament, Tekken 4 is based on one-on-one singular matches, and not a tag battle.
Unlike from all previous games in the Tekken series, Tekken 4 will no longer feature an infinite fighting ground- walls will now be featured in the game.
Three out of those four statements do not come as a big surprise. If you have ever read the interview with the TTT development team (feature on the front page) you know Tekken 4 wasn\'t going to be a tag game. It being a sequel to Tekken 3 and picking up the story there makes perfect sense and doesn\'t take much to figure that out. And from looking at the character CG\'s Namco has already released we knew it was going to take place to far in future after Tekken 3.
But walls!!! We are all hoping for some major changes in the game, making it a worthy sequel to Tekken 3. But this is breaking away from one of the principles that made Tekken what it is. Just imagine the impact this will have on the juggling engine alone. It sure will be interesting to see how this will work out if this is true.
Walls????? Well, maybe on some stages, but the unlimited playing field should not be left out
