Nintendo’s Wave Race is widely regarded as the benchmark for water-based racing titles, but Eidos Interactive is hoping to up the ante with Wave Rally on the PlayStation 2. Adding credibility to Wave Rally is the inclusion of the official Jet Ski license, allowing Eidos and Opus Corporation, the developers behind the game, to throw in Jet Ski watercraft, Jet Pilot wet suits and other Kawasaki trademarks. At this time, Wave Rally is on schedule for a release in the winter.
“We are very excited about Jet Pilot and Kawasaki’s involvement with Wave Rally,” says Paul Baldwin, Eidos’ Vice President of Marketing. “When you think of quality, high performance and breakthrough technology involving personal watercraft, you think of Kawasaki and this will be reflected in the game itself.”
Wave Rally utilizes Opus\' \'GZWave\' engine resulting in ultra realistic waves and dynamic water physics enabling players to launch off rolling breakers and perform spectacular freestyle tricks. The game consists of various modes including, Arcade, Championship, Freestyle and 2-player Head-to-Head mode. Riders from across the globe will race in a number of diverse locations from the beaches of Florida to the fjords of Norway and the canals of Venice.
