From
http://www.playstationcenter.comLittle has been seen of Empire\'s PS2 title, End Game, but we learned a little from E3 2001.
Firstly, End Game does not mark the end here, in fact it is the very beginning. Beginning of what I hear you ask? Well, End Game is the FIRST PlayStation 2 game that will take advantage of a light gun. Yay!
And before you think this is just another point and shoot linear gameplay experience, Empire have set about redefining the genre, stating that this will truly be the first game to bridge the divide between interactive and cinematic entertainment.
Set in the future, you set out as Jade, the beautiful new heroin who leaves New York in order to save a man called Tyler, who is on the run from Deamcorp, somewhere within the United States of Europe (yes, we did say US of E). From there, the plot will take as many twists and turns as an episode of WWF Raw, and things start to get interesting, not to mention look stunning.
Graphically End Game contains well designed fully interactive 3D environments, and the game contains two huge worlds to explore and three distinct games-in-one, including a game-within-a-game, with more than one possible outcome. Other features include: Multi-pass accumulation buffer for truly cinematic frame effects, motion blur, and movement, and believe me, it all looks amazing when the action hots up.
And the sound is also impressive, using the latest 3D 5.1 24 bit audio - you will hear every scream, shell, and explosion with clarity like never before.
Of course we don\'t know which lightgun Empire will be using for the PlayStation 2, so it\'s still early to suggest exactly how the game plays, but with the variety in game, and using an extensive range of transport, and packing different weapons for different worlds, Jade will definitely win your heart and your respect as the all new 21st century action hero. Lara, you have been warned.
"We’re confident that End Game will become the benchmark against which all light-gun games will be measured," said CEO Ian Higgins, "and E3 marks the beginning of our campaign to introduce the first of the next generation of video games."
End Game will launches worldwide on the PS2 in November 2001. Stay tuned for more of this potentially great title as it happens.
