Tecmo\'s big bossman in Japan is talking... a lot... and a familiar PSOne series is headed to PS2 sooner than you think!
Itagaki-san, the head of Tecmo Japan, has revealed the company is hard at work on the first PS2 installment of its moderately successful build-a-deathtrap RPG, Tecmo Deception. The new installment is being developed under the working title Tecmo Deception: Project Zero.
According to a report on The Magic Box, Itagaki revealed the game is already well into development, with a tentative March 2002 release date scheduled for Japan. Tecmo\'s Deception for PSOne was a quietly successful title early in the life of PSOne, which jumped in popularity when the company tied the game into it\'s hit virtual pet title, Monster Rancher; a rare monster in that title could be unlocked only if you used the Tecmo Deception disc in the monster spawning arena.
The series was continued with the second installment, Kagero: Deception II, released in 1998, and in 2000 by Deception III: Dark Delusion. Tecmo Deception: Project Zero will be the first installment to appear on PS2. Although scheduled for Spring 2002 release in Japan, it is unlikely the game will see US release before Christmas 2002... so don\'t go holding your breath yet.
