Here\'s the update guys:
After being quite awed by their general look, the characters moved amazingly well in all respects. The least life-like motions are, strangely enough, walking, but when the characters start actually wrestling one another, the movements are smooth, amazingly fast, and very responsive.
The only aspect of the game that was running was the Exhibition mode, in which two wrestlers start at each other, and then, after about one to two minutes, a third wrestler arrives in the scene, followed by a fourth, a few minutes later, a fifth, and then a few minutes later, a total of eight superstars are on screen simultaneously, wrestling each other in an all-out brawl, without any slowdown, or chop. The game can handle as many as nine players on screen at once. There is a story mode and a Create mode as well.
The moves are much like they were in the previous Smackdown games. Circle is grapple, Triangle is run and bounce off the ropes, X is hit or attack, and Square is block. Depending on which way you approach your opponent, the attacks perform different moves. There are literally dozens and dozens of moves per wrestler.
The game is going to be huge, not just in popularity or whatnot, but in terms of modes alone. A THQ rep said that there will be 30-50 wrestlers in the game, 10 backstage environments, and enables up to four users to play it at once. On top of that, the game features as many as 70 modes of play, including Ladder matches, Cage matches, hardcore, tag team, Texas Tornado, No Holds Bar, Anywhere, etc.
Lastly, we are told by THQ that the story mode will be greatly improved. THQ did not elaborate.
