Hello,

Recently i have decided to pursure my parents into getting DSL, but i need some information to show them, and i have not been able to locate any good websites with information i could show them. Can you guys help me out and post some websites, thanks alot, it helps me alot.  Could you also what the quote below means?

" MetaLINK’s Broadband Wireless acccess is the future of high-speed Internet access. Fast, affordable, highly reliable, highly secure, always on and  extrmemly fast! Best of all you don’t need any phone lines or expensive cable service. You just need a small antenna and MetaLINK’s wireless service.

"The demands you make on your Internet connection are changing - and so is high speed access. It\'s time you ask more of your Internet Service Provider. Come experience the Internet the way it was meant to be -- FAST. Using a proven wireless, digital frequency technology, MetaLINK Broadband Wireless beams the Internet directly to your home at speeds many times faster than today\'s dial-up modems"

DSL goes through your phone line (its not wireless).

The beauty is that you can be on your computer (internet) and STILL get calls (make calls) on your phone. Magic I tell you:) And no slowdown associated with cable.

Here in Minnesota, the phone company (Quest) offers DSL for $20 a month (680Kbps). That\'s in addition to your regular phone line fee.

As for providers, I have blackhole.com and they\'re great. I have a 256Kbps account for $19.99 a month.

...So for the DSL service and my provider, my total monthly is about $40. All for unlimited time, the only thing is I have to go offline after 2 hours, but only for 5 minutes, and then I can get back on.

I have DSL constantly on at 1.5 MBPS speeds and I pay roughly $45 a month.  As Cygnus said, you can be online and still recieve calls, especially since DSL works WITH your existing phoneline.  I must warn you though that there has been plenty of horror stories with both Cable and DSL related products concerning their respective providers.  Just be choosy and cautious when it comes to deciding.

One other thing, how many children\\teenagers\\businessmen live in your town?  And just how populated is your town in general?  I\'ll tell you if DSL or Cable is better depending on the answers to those questions.
Don\'t you ever touch my cape.

Basically bcable is way faster than DSL, but cable has to be shared with other in your neighborhood, so the speed fluctuates.

My cable is $30.00 a month and is 3 megabits per second, but since it is split among other users it can drop to as low as 1mbit\\sec. Which is still very fast, but not 3mbit\\sec.
Luckily it usually stays somewhere are 2.5-3mbit\\sec.
