I\'d just like to say that you are pretty much full of it. Their is absolutly no conformation of a PS3 launching. You have no proof of any of these so called "rumours" (Lies) How can you say it\'s going to be voice activated and have all these details when the PS2 just launched. The last thing Sony wants right now is to launch another system. Maybe next time you can try to make another story up that\'ll be more belivable.

actually proof of ps3 is abundant
i have seen many articles in game magazines stating that sony admits to being at work on the technology which WILL be in ps3
and sony is scheduling the release in 2005 which isnt strange because the ps2 launched just about 5 years after the original PSX
as for the 1000× more power i have heard that UP TO 1000 times the current number of polygons can be displayed which I believe could be done but that like all polygon count figures does not include special effects such as lighting which halfs polygon count each time it is used in a game
also more proof is that sony has already shown demos to select developers which wqere the original ps2 tech demos on steroids
the linked a series of ps2s together into a sort of cluster connected to a computer monitor and computer showed these demos
so the whole ps3 depends on 1 thing PS2!!
if ps2 does well and makes sony lots of money like PSX then ps3 will happena nd as far as i can see ps2 is doing well from my own personal experiance I LIKE IT

I would have to agree. Including PSone combatability is one of the most useless features, if they do it.

And I refuse to believe it will be $300. I imagine by then Sony will have jacked the price up alittle more.

But , hey, this is in 2005 . Who cares?

Sounds like Subliminable(G.W. Spelling) marketing to me. Does Sony\'s underhanded trechery know no bounds? ;)

Personally, I\'d rather Sony come up with an all new original name for the PS3. I doubt that will happen though. Sony\'s got brand recognision. After the PSX, PSOne, PS2, and PocketStation.. there\'s nothing to lead to me to believe Sony\'s going to drop the "PS" logo anytime soon.

Oh well.. guess I\'ll just have to wait for the Nintnedo GamePolyhedron or the Sega Pheonix!

First of all, nobody knows what the hell they\'re going to call it, so let\'s not jump to conclusions.  Secondly, the PlayStation 2 has been out since March of \'99, which makes it about 2 and a half years old.  Sony usually comes out with a new system every 5-6 years, which makes sense for it to come out in 2005.  They\'re really working hard on it.  They did codename it the "Cell," which is, of course, just a codename.  I read up on an article in one of the latest PSM magazines, and a lot of the stuff posted about it was a tad bit (way off) wrong.  Sorry aout being such an a**, but we really don\'t know too much about it yet, and there\'s a huge thread about it.  I now you guys are probably having fun, but this is crazy...:) Anyways...that\'s about it and thank your for listening to my annoying opinions.

I think PS3 will be 200-1000 Times more powerful than the actual PS2...and a 100 years ahead of itself should mean "Molecular Technology"...wich is said to be billions times faster :D

I doubt sony can make a better chip than NVIDIA, considering the best, and most creative chip makers in the world work for them. Although you never know!

IBM Toshiba and Sony are working together in creating this chip, and since this chip is a processor not a GPU. I seriously doubt NVidia could make anything as good compared to what these three giants come up with here.

I will say that I am curious to see where Sony or how Sony does handle the GPU portion of the PS3. Sony DEFINTELY has to incorporate hardware effects into its PS3 GPU, or at least make them work without any serious performance hits. I\'m not a huge fan of Sony\'s graphics sythesiser and can only imagine how powerful the PS2 could be if SOny used a familiar styled GPU along side of the EE.

Nvidia\'s president made some comments on what GPU\'s will look like around 2005.

I came across a real interesting page about Ram on Toshiba\'s web site. Fast Cycle DRAM will probably find its way into the Playstation 3 because of its low latency. Low latency is the main reason for Nintendo went with Mosys ram in the Gamecube.

I found the whole article quite interesting to read. Enjoy.

Sony has a new DVD standard that they are working on called "DVR-Blue". It can hold over 20 gigabytes of data. Probably by the time the PS 3 arrives, that standard will have been improved upon.

Here\'s a link

http://srd.yahoo.com/goo/dvr+blue/1/*http://ne.nikkeibp.co.jp/english/20...3sony_d-ce.html

Simplex Solutions, the company that helped make the Graphic Synthesizer for the PS 2, made an interesting announcement about a design process known as "X". "X" is the process of putting the wires in an X pattern instead of the traditional square pattern. The benefit of "X" is that it reduces wire length allowing for 10% increase in chip speed and reducing power consumption.

Here is the link

http://www.eetimes.com/story/OEG20010604S0087

The article states that Toshiba is already involved with the new design method. Since Toshiba is involved with "cell", I won\'t be surprised if the technology ends up in the EE 3 chip.
