NEW info on FFX: Blitzball, Lulu, overdrive attacks and more!!

Final Fantasy X- Blitzball, OverDrive, and Lulu,  Details and Images



Square has released additional information on Final Fantasy X  through Shueisha Publishing\'s "Weekly Shounen Jump" magazine. Details and images of the BlitzBall water sport, OverDrive system, and the Magician Lulu, are now available.

OverDrives
Overdrives are  labeled as "the ultimate counter attack". Similarly to the Limit Break system in FFVII, an overdrive meter exists in the battle screen of FFX. When a character gets attacked, their overdrive meter increases- when the meter is full, the character can execute a special attack.
Tidus- Tiduses\' overdrive is "Sword Technique". Similarly to Squall in FFVIII, A timing meter will appear when Tidus selects his overdrive. Tidus can execute a special sword attack by pressing a button when the cursor is pointed at the center of the timing meter. [ Image ]
Kimahli- Kimahli\'s overdrive is
                              "Enemie\'s attack", which is identical to the Blue magic in the Final Fantasy Series. [ Image ]
Lulu- Lulu\'s overdrive is "Temptation". A timer will appear when Lulu selecte her overdrive. By continuously twirling
                               the right stick on the PS2 controller before  the timer runs down, Lulu can execute magic the same number of times as the stick has been  twirled. [ Image ]

Blitz Ball
A major sport in the world of Final Fantasy X, Blitzball is a water sport which consists of scoring a ball into a goal, similarly to basketball or soccer. Blitzball can be enjoyed as a mini-game as the story progresses.

Lulu
Lulu is labeled as "The strongest female character in the history of Final Fantasy".  A black magician who uses a  moogle which impersonates her movement as well as attack enemies, Lulu is a calm but strict female character who acts as a sister for Yuna.   Likewise to Kimalhi, Lulu is also a protector of Yuna as well.  [ Image ]
Final Fantasy X is scheduled for release in  7/19, 8800 Yen."

Blitzball is funny because it\'s agerman word, too. I think the japanese developers like german names: Blitzball, Einhänder, Ehrgeiz...

Great news! Lulu looks like she\'ll be an awesome character.  Blitzball also looks fun.

This game will be awesome, and i can\'t wait to check out Blitzball.

Thats some cool info.   I think overdrives sound a little better than limit breaks anyway.  


And im glad that there will be a "sporty" type mini game so that you can perfect your skills such as in any sports game.

I\'ve still yet to see a world map. I\'ve found textual evidence that thier is going to be one so Im not worried about that. But in a game which the main theme is Expoloration, you do wonder about it. Im interested in how they are going to fase between towns. I hear its supposed to be seemless. Like the view goes from above to behind while preportioning you to the city. But some info or movie would be nice.

I\'m damn glad to hear that blitzball is going to be playable as a mini game, i was hoping it would ever since I heard about it. I get so hooked on the mini games, there are times I\'ll crack open the psx ff games JUST to play the mini games, like the snowboaring and motorbike mini games in FF7
