Final Fantasy X and water...
« on: June 18, 2001, 11:03:35 PM »
So, we all know that Final Fantasy X is going to have a ton of water in it.  That has already been told to us through plot details given out.  I\'m sure thatthe water in this game is going to play a large part in the story.

What I\'m curious about is how real the water will be.  I know we\'ve all see the water fall and stuff like taht and it looked incredible, but what about a lake, or when the caharacter is running across the world map, or whatever they\'ll have now, on the ocean shore?  Will the physics be implemented very well or not.  Like Waverace on the GC.  The water effects are amazing.  I\'m sure that a lot of the system\'s power is being devoted to that, it being a water racing game. But, since Final Fantasy X isn\'t all abuot water racing the programmers probably gave less power to water effects.  So, I doubt they\'ll be as realistic, but will they be close?

I just hope square puts that effort into making cool water effects while the game takes place heavily in water based areas.  It would just make the game so much cooler then I\'m sure it already will be!!

I think it will have cool water effects. Not as good as Waverace but they will be cool. Square pay attention to all little details like that. They will look awesome but might not have as good rippling effects.

Well, thats my opinion.
A schizophrenic patient will not allow anyone to touch them; not because they would do them some harm, but because they might electrocute them.

It\'s gonna sparkle baby!  Or wait, maybe it will suck.  But it could be cool!  Or maybe it will suck.  Or maybe we\'ll think we could be watching "Bay Watch" or something.  But then again, maybe they won\'t even have waves at all!

Um, premature question.

When the game actually comes out, let\'s definately discuss it!  I\'ll be there!

trust me they are not gonna have it look like crap

i mean the game is amazing as said it focuses on water a lot with that blitzball sport so i believe they will at least focus on it - don\'t worry it will look nice and also its not like bad water will make the game worse
This Sig is a Work in Progress.

Look at the third movie ever released. Hes walking across a land bridge and it falls into the water with Tidus on it. Then he swims a little bit.

This one shows the waterfall and how it blends when it hits the ground. 10mb

This one id the one I mentioned above. Displayes water from a lake. 6mb

Funny how his hair doesn\'t wet when Tidus feel off the bridge and attack by two fishes then by this crazy detail polygon munching sea monster.  He fights underwater.  Crazy.  Then being chased by the sea monster.  The graphic just looks good. But there are obvious things that I see that weren\'t added, his hair doesn\'t wet and soak and his outfit doesn\'t apply to water physic either.  Another thing tht I think square did right is they let Tidus stay underwater long time without any need of air and maintain alive.  First Square got rid of real life shadow.  Sure the graphic looks good, but much of these are just what I would consider evolution.  Nothing really revolution, MGS2 is a revolutionary games.  From limited physics to real life physics and facial expression to mulitple shadow.  So is ff7, from 2d to 3d jump.  Even the load time in FFX is kinda long too.  there is like 3 - 5 sec, but I saw a part that is like 10 seconds load time.  Harddrive will eliminate that and I am going to buy the 40 gigs harddrive.  It no surprise they didn\'t win the RPG award at E3 but rather a runner - up.  Probably it has to do with no online.

It doesnt\' mean i am not going to buy this game.  I am an final fantasy and square fan if you didn\'t know and i like rpg.  I just expect more out of ff10 but still this is already awesome enough comparing to most of other games i see out there.  The graphic gives me the hype!

I remember seeing screenshots from that video a long time ago, way back when FFIX (yes, I mean 9) was only a rumor.
