DO NOT buy a COMPAQ. They are horrible. There is more reasons then I can list on why Compaq systems are directly from HELL.

I am not personally fond of GateWay, after workin\' on them. But, some people swear by them.

DELL isn\'t so bad. You could do worse.

I personally have an IBM Aptivia and it works perfect. I also own a CTX which was \'crapola\' until I replaced every part in it. Then, there is my Imac which I love and adore.

Build your own.  Only when YOU select the parts will you know that no one\'s cutting corners on you.  You can also have the pride of knowing that Schlotzky PCs are the best.

I like Dell.  There are companies online.  If you like to design but not build your own system you could try a place like Directron.

yeah but if im building my computer and i forget that to correctly install the directrix protocal to output cxy then i need to reconnect the gravitron bisingular device to the reverse cuplinked transistor labeled6548254 but not the one labeled6548255 then i will have the confidence and state of mind that all schlotzky computers will suck @$$

:D

Heh heh, it\'s not that hard.  Of course everything is relative... for some people, programming the VCR clock is difficult, and for others flying an F-16 is easy.  Life is a learning process, and the more you learn about the tools you depend on, the more confident you\'ll be in using them.

BTW, there are many websites around that tell you how to buy and assemble a PC from separate components.  All you need is a screwdriver!  No soldering required.  I really think you\'d be surprised how simple it is.

There are places that will build a pc for you and you can just pick out the parts.  But the advantage of buying Dell/Gateway/Falcon is warranty.

Gateway was the worst choice I could have ever made.

1) Because of the way Gateway ships it\'s computers, UPS can\'t accurately track your computer, it is usually grouped with others that live near you.  They lost my first compueter, had to send another one.

2) The salseman told me of some features I didn\'t "really" need, so I didn\'t get them.  Later, when I wanted them, I had to buy the parts seperately from other distributers.

3) My computer has crashed 4 times, I lost all of my files four times.  (My Compaq never crashed once.)

4) I get unusual error messages, the free help service can\'t get rid of them, but a specialised crew I would have to PAY for might be able to help.

5) My computer is LOUD, the DVD rom, everything is louder than any other computer I have heard.

6) I\'m very limited into my expansion abilities.

I could go on if you want me to.  Just heed my advice, be prudent in your choice, especially in Gateway.
