I also got the Bishamon Sword and beat the final boss with my first try.
A few days later I wanted to show the final fight to my friends and I couldn`t beat him with the Bishamon alone.I don`t know why , but I had to unload all special moves of all 3 swords upon him.

I killed him every time after i got the bishamon sword. I used my specials on my lighting and wind swords but not on my fire. I found when using my firesword it still had the chance to grab me and kill me. When i used my specials  on both of the other swords and the kept pressing triangle repeadedly with my bishamon sword he never had the chance to attack me!
