Ok I won\'t currently do a review as I don\'t feel i\'ve played this game enough to comment on anything review wise.
However I can make some quick fire judgements which might be useful for people considering buying this game.
Firstly no 60Hz option or screen centering options which is a pain (see later).
Graphics and Framerate.
I never played the demo however the frame rate in red faction is nothing to boast about. The frame rate is livable and certainly doesn\'t spoil the gameplay expirence beyond help but it does spoil it somewhat.
For the majority of the game it runs along nicely, with minor slowdowns when turning, nothing much just makes it look a little sickly.
The Geomod seems to cause the slowdown, every single time the Geomod kicks into action you get a pause in the game. Doesn\'t seem much but during say a rocket fight with two people blasting rockets and creatings lots of wholes you can imagine the game slowing down quite considerably.
Im very picky where games are concerned, I couldn\'t enjoy SSX for the constant slowdown when cornering. Red Faction im sure I will enjoy as the slow down is less frequent. It seems a same thought that some slowdown could have been reduced if a 60Hz option was added to the game.
If your reading this and thinking im not going to get it now, don\'t think that, the slowdown doesn\'t ruin the game but im just telling it how it is.
The graphics are nice. Textures are a bit blurly but the whole thing pieces together to create a pretty nice looking game.
So far the Geomod seems pretty unused and I heard from nearly all reviews that it becomes less unused the more you venture into the game. The Geomod really is just a little extra, and I can\'t help but think they should have maybe excluded it since its the main cluprit of all the slowdown. That said though it is nice blowing wholes into walls but it is one of the most hyped features of this video game and in short its nothing great. You will find yourself playing the game pretty much ignoring Geomod most of the time.
Next downfall of this game is the AI. Some nice touches like the bad dudes running away when I had the shock gun on, but as a lot of reviews say the AI isn\'t great.
So there the instant downfalls. Im yet to exprience the good side of Red Faction as its late, im tired and I need to give it a proper go. This game will be good though. You can tell from the onset that its going to be an enjoyable expirence.
So in short (ill do a even longer review later), don\'t believe the hype. This is no 90%, 9/10, 10/10 game like some Internet sites, owners of the game or magazine reviewers suggest. However even with its flaws its still a playable and should be enjoyable game. Im completly agreeing with the magazines that gave the game 7/10 / 8/10. It is a good game but its not amazing.
If your in Europe theres no reason not to own this game, its good and will definatly tied you over. In America though you might want to look at other genres since you have the choice of games like, Dark Cloud etc.
EDIT - Just read over what I\'ve wrote, I seem negative, Red faction is a good game. Don\'t let me put you off. Its just rather than hype I game alot, I rip it to shreads and then play the game up. In my real review ill have a better inside into red factions good points as I should be enjoying it immensly, but im just commenting on what is instantly noticable.
