When do you send a game back?
« on: June 30, 2001, 06:31:08 AM »
As you know I got Red Faction, cost me £45 so its pretty expensive game.

I\'ve almost completed it today, saturday and purchased the game on Thursday.

I\'ve played it a lot and enjoyed but I know this game won\'t give me any reply value.

So should I make use of my 10 Day no Fuss Returns policy from EB and return it and swap it for another game on the grounds that A) I\'ve completed it in 2 days, B) it was £45.

I suppose its a bit sneeky but £45 is a lot and its hardly as sneeky as the board members swapping PS2s in America at Walmart when they didn\'t even purchase them there.

Swap or Keep ?

Dunno, im talking from a UK EB standpoint. On there recipts they have "10 day no fuss returns".

I asked in the shop, my converstation went something like this.

Me: So this 10 day return policy, if I don\'t like this game I can swap it, yeah ?

EB Staff: Don\'t worry, you will like, us lot have been hooked on it for ages.

Me: Well its just that I don\'t like slowdown in games.

EB Staff: Oh if you mean the demo of Red Faction, its been cleaned up considerably.

(At this point I didn\'t make out that I knew about the final game, so i just said OK, least this guy sort of knew what he was on about, so I took his word).

Me: Ok but say I didn\'t like it.

EB Staff: Well if you didn\'t you could get a swap.

Yeah EB lets you do that ps2gamer_59, i went in there with one game Driver and said it was crap, and they gave me my money back, really dont know how they do it,but who cares if you get your money back,in the EB near me they have just made it 14 days instead of 10 how good is that!

Back to the question, yeah if you are not going to play it agian, then take it back, and try another game,or wait till friday then take it back and get Onimusha instead, then if you really fill like you need to play Red Fraction agian,do the same buy it for a little while then take it back agian.
Hope this helps you: )

Yeah I was thinking of a game to swap it with, as its bad to ask for money back well it isnt, but you know.

The nearest EB is 25 miles away you see which is £5.50 on the bus. Now im going there on Monday reguardless but then to go back on Friday is going to be costly, like a quarter of the actual game cost in bus fair.

So I was thinking of either getting.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer
Extermination
Ring of Red
NBA Street

Probably Tokyo Xtreme Racer, everyone likes it at http://www.videogamereview.com (although they tend to be bias and not look at the game they just bought in an objective way), and IGN seems to think its OK, and people on this board seem to like it.

No the game is good, thats not the reason for taking it back (read my review for my opinions on the game). Im simply taking it back because i\'ve completed it in 2 - 3 days which is fine as its fun, but I can\'t see myself ever replaying this game.

So since im still within the 10 day returns period I mess well return it and get another game. :)

Swap if that is what you desire...like you indicated, for good or bad, EB\'s offer is a "No Fuss" return policy.  What you (and anyone) has to be willing to accept in that policy is that you do not get your cash back; instead, you receive credit for future purchase in their store.  Small price being a gamer.  Still, I\'d advise, don\'t ab/use this offering of theirs...I mean, if you do it with each and every game, then you would basically be "renting at no cost" and that\'s not going to win you over with the help now is it?

Yes you do get your money back, and if you dont like a game then you can get your money back, because that is there policy, and there isnt anything they can do,if you are in the time given,or the games is scratched to death, but if that is what they let you do then use there offer.

Recieved full refund in cash.

Went in, in the morning and he couldnt give me it tills were empty. Returned later this afternoon for cash refund.

Now onto my gripe about this system...

Basically unlike Virgin Megastores etc EB sell there games from the manufacturers with that cool sony seal rip thing on. Meaning your getting a brand new game.

When puchasing gun griffon blaze the bloke gave me unsealed copy when I could visably see a load of seal ones (aka its probably been played by someone else). So i said can i have a sealed one and he was like why arent you going to play it, and i was like no its for a present for someone (a lie but what else couild i say), and he said its ok and didnt give me one, like he was excusing my question as though i was in the wrong for asking.

Then i was walking around the town thinking ive paid £40 for what is technically a second hand game so I went back and demanded a seal one, he laughed and got me it, but was laughing at me, cheeky arse.

Ever since then that store assistant hasnt like me and it was him who served me today, anyway i swapped red factioin and someone just happned to be buying red faction there and then, whilst one sales guy got this lad it, the one who was serving me (the one i dont like) said to him there is one here, and basically gave this man the unsealed second hand one I had purchased on thursday. Im very fussy with games and it was in mint condition but its not the point.

In conclusion EB are great for sealed no marks games unlike some (woolworths, virgin etc) who get CDs out of drawers behind the counter (and in some cases can be scratched to bits), but if you get a unsealed game demand another as its probably one which was bought and then returned using the 10 days policy, meaning it will have been played by someone else, second hand!

Does this bother anyone, or are you lot like that lad and couldnt give a rats ass (or he may have not seen me return it next to him, as I had nearly been completed served when he had just started to get served). I know im fussy and these things bug me thinking i\'ve paid for a second hand game (hence the Gun Griffon Blaze swap). Do they bug you ?

Yeah it does bother me Rich, these guys can be right arseholes. I rarley buy something from EB unless i
have reason, i brought Red faction from here and returned it just like you my friend. I got a full
Refund and the money is going to get me Onimusha. i rekon that that game would be better overall. like i said
I wouldn\'t have used EB in the 1st place if i knew that i\'d keep Red Faction. It\'s just the typical thing with a
1st person shooter - i never play through them twice so this was the main reason. Good move on returning it Rich :D
