No more green screen!!!!!!!

Again dunno if this has been posted or not, but us pal users can now watch dvd movies from all regions and in full colour, no green crap. How?. Datels Dvd RegionX, only available in Pal regions at the mo. Heres how it works. Goto http://www.dvdregionx.com/english/x_key_codes.htm
and input the codes from there to update your ps2 drivers. My regionx is in the post to me so I should recieve it tomorrow. Before the mods start jumping on my back an **** like that, this product and information is perfectly legal, and its very beneficial to the Pal users of this forum. Lets hope the post stays. If not email me.

For the lazy ppl here are the instructions:
IMPORTANT YOU MUST FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY:

FIND THE CORRECT CODE FOR YOUR VERSION OF DVD MOVIE PLAYER

Turn on your PS2™ with the DVDregionX disk in the drive
When it boots, you will see both the DVDID and the DVDVER displayed in the top right hand corner of the screen on the main screen and the code entry screen
Make a note of these ID\'s
Select the codes from below that exactly match both the DVDID and the DVDVER you have noted down (if you cannot find ID\'s that match what is displayed on the DVDregionX screens then email support@datel.co.uk)
ENTER THE CODES INTO DVD REGION X CODE ENTRY SCREEN

Turn the power off on your PlayStation2™ console - YOU MUST DO THIS !!!
Insert DVD Region X Key Dongle into Port 2 - MAKE SURE IT IS PORT 2 !!!
Turn your PlayStation2™ console power on
Wait for white PlayStation™ logo on black screen
Hold buttons "START" + "L1" + "L2" + "R1" + "R2" until DVDregionX has gone into the region selection screen.
Press "X" to open the drawer
Turn the power off on your PlayStation2™ console
Turn the power back on again
Wait until DVDregionX is on the region selection screen
Press "SELECT"
In the Code Entry screen, follow the onscreen instructions for entering the correct code (you will find these below)
Once the codes are entered, press "START"
Select the region you want to play, on the region select screen
Press "X" and the disc drawer will open
Insert your DVD and close the disc drawer
Press "X" when a gold disc appears on the screen.

My Region X just arrived and I can confirm that it works, right now am watching Dracula2000 region1 with full scart and no hint of green haze anywhere :D:D:D:D, beats opening up your ps2 and voiding your warrenty me thinks.

Didn\'t read the post fully as im in a rush. However are you saying that as well as playing region 1 DVDs it will also fix the greenscreeness of using a scart cable on normal DVDs without invalidating your warrentee ?

Yep, I read that it eliminates green screen to. Where can i pick up a decent scart which also alows me to take the audio leads straight to my amp?

Yea RichGUK it does eliminate the green screen when playing dvd\'s with a full scart lead.It also lets u play copied games, but Im not gonna go into that here as I\'d get a wrist slap from the mods .

Do you have to do all that stuff everytime you watch a dvd????

I got Monstercables S-VHS cable and a 32" Sony widescreen, I don´t need RGB my picture is perfect.

Ok read up on it now. The only thing I don\'t like is that once you have changed the code its changed. I mean what stops Sony issuing games which change them back etc. If this happens somewhere along the line there could be problems.

How do you mean Rich?, what do u mean by once you have changed the code its changed?. It seems like the only time it actually "changes" anything is when u load up the region x disk. You have to load the disk each time for the drivers to be "updated" as such. So it doesnt actually change anything. Meaning that if you dont load the region x disk you WILL still get a green screen, which means you still have your normal drivers. And if sony does update the drives u can bet your arse there will updated codes for the new drivers.

Well if what your saying is true theres nothing to worry about, other than having to insert the region X disc each time you want to use DVD with scart cable.

However I heard that using the codes perminantly writes to the software inside the PS2, the drivers. Therefore your PS2 is changed forever. Now of course this really isn\'t such a big deal but I personally would sooner have Sony do the changing than some company like Datel which basically release products for playing copies.

If what I was saying was true then Sony could always include software to re-write the drivers back to there original format. I mean there bound to, they want the PS2 to be green screen, if they didn\'t they wouldn\'t have done it in the first place.

I just don\'t like the idea of my PS2 drivers being messed about with. I mean look at PCs, so many problems can happen. Imagine if say you altered DVD drivers and then started getting really bad lip sync problems.

Anyway im just predicting and I only heard that it updated the drivers. I don\'t know which is fact to be honest.

Yea it is a bit of a pain in the arse to keep loading up the region x disk whenever you wanna watch a film. I dont think the region x software permenately writes the drivers , it just refreshes them everytime its loaded. The way I would equate it is the same as using a cheat for a game, because essentially thats all this is. Whenever you load up a cheat for a game its not permenant, it can always be turned off. But I take your point.

Well there is a way to make sure.

In the PS2 browser screen theres options and one of them lists the DVD driver number. If this has changed from what it used to be then its been altered.

So is it a case of doing this code thing and it writes it to that dongle memory card thing and you can just swap discs to view DVD with Scart in colour in the future? Or do you have to enter these codes each time?

Looks like i modded my PS2 about 2 weeks to early. I just knew this was going to happen lol
Never mind, modchips are looking ore appealing to us Pal owners anyway, and i won\'t hesitate putting
one into my PS2 now that my warranty is void. We need to have access to imported games.
