Shall I tune my car up?
« on: July 11, 2001, 07:18:40 PM »
Since this forum is on a snail\'s pace and the religion thread has slowed to a trickle, I wanna see if you guys think I should tune-up my car or not.

I have a 2000 Hyundai Accent 1.5L 2D Hatchback. Currently, it has 96 or 104 hp (can\'t remember which one). I figured I love street racing people and since I never win off of the line (duh) I always have to end upgoing faster to win and risking my butt on these cowtrail roads we got in the neighborhoods out here.

There are very few places on the net and most likely 0 in Omaha that have parts to Naturlly Aspire or Turbocharge my car, but since there aren\'t too many games coming out that I am interested in until November, I will have a few thousand to work with. Not enough to get a new car, but enough to tune up mine.

Should I do it?

Turbo or Naturally aspiration? I don\'t wanna do Nitrous, that stuff is weak and cheap in my opinion (when you are racing someone)

thanks for the input.
A funny gesture.

I say do what you can dood.  But don\'t rice it out..  Stickers and the color yellow and big spoilers ( on front wheel drive cars) do not make it any faster...  It just makes you look like a fool..

But I say do any mods that you can...  There are a lot of web sites out there with stuff that you can buy.  Start looking around on the car forums.  Like clubsi, audiworld, bmweb..  These sites may not pertain to your car, but they are a good recource to find stuff for you car on other web sites..

go here and check out my web page..

Its a little web page I put together about my car.. I have not done much performance mods yet, but they are comming soon, actually this weekend.  Hopefully I will have a new intake and exhuast this weekend..  But we will see..

Yeah, I am usually the guy racing idiots with CRX\'s and Civics with the Rice burners, halogen lights, spoilers and all that dumb junk.

I will probably get a muffler and exhaust after i NEED to get it. I don\'t wanna havea  really nice muffler without anything to back it up with. :)

Let\'s just hope Stanzo and #Racer# dont come in here and berate me about owning a Hyundai that I wanna build up :) They might get angry :D

I was looking for this 4-1 Header made for especially for a Hyundai, but the listing only said 1995 - 1999. The thing was quite nice sounding and wasn\'t much money at all. I am gona email the company and see if the 2000 model works or has an equivalent.

Im so glad your not going to make it all dumb.
I hate those damn cars.
When all they are is a resonator tip with a racing stripe a HUGE spoiler and halogen lights, AND THATS IT!
Maybe a K&N air filter with a new exhaust at the most, and they think thier car is some kind of hot ****.
AHHH!!!!
DIE!!!!!!

I am going to write to the Toronto transit commision and ask that they tune-up my local bus. It\'s really slow, and I think if they could Turbocharge it or even install that Nitrious stuff - that way we could all get between stops a lot quicker.

Of course, if it goes too fast, they\'ll have to install a very large spoiler, and no souped up bus would be complete without go-fast stickers and decals!

Save your money for college, or something not illegal and dangerous to others and yourself. Just my humble opinion.

I agree, but I\'m just surprised as to how many people are into souping up their cars.

Nah, my college is already payed for through sholarships and junk because of my test scores.

illegal? yep.
dangerous? yep.
A Hell of alotta fun? you betcha!

I will probably cut out the neighborhood dragging, as that kind of stuff gets people killed. but when I am down at Aksarben (used to be a horse-racing place, now an auto club) you better believe that I will be racing. Besides, like I said I got nothing better to spend or save it on.

Are you plannin\' to carry anyone? if so I heard that Hyundai 1.5 L ain\'t really good and will lose a lot of it\'s power by puttin\' a couple hundred more lbs into the car.

Maybe if your really into racin\' and stuff, you should do an engine swap.  A few thousend bucks is good enough for just that.   So good luck dude!

P.S. oh yeah if you have money left after that do the usual exhuast, intake, header  they will give you noticeable difference.

don\'t listen to them

Don\'t listen to the kids on here that say don\'t mod your car...

Its a lot of funa and a great hobby..  Not everyone wants to buy video games all day and sit in front of a computer like some people on this board..

I bought a car almost 3 months ago..  Check my web site out, its pretty cool.  And I have been going crazy mod-ing it..  There are some really cool people out there that are really into..  Its a great hobby and its not illegal..  You can do autocross races..  There are races in my area like every weekend. Its great...

I can\'t beleive some of the people on this board, its like they have nothing supportive to say in any post..  Im not going to mention names, but all I see is negative responses most the time..  It sucks being as bitter as them and I feel sorry for them...  But hey to each their own..

But there is not a whole lot you can do to your hyundai.  Filter, exhuast, maybe a new computer chip..

Is is automatic or a 5-speed..??

Kirath you really need to grow up. I don\'t think me being 24 qualifies as a kid first off. Second of all he asked if he should soup it up, I "supported" his thread by giving him a reply and backing up why I felt that way. I also showed support for him by suggesting he get an education and not risk injury to himself. That shows that I care about his well being, and I don\'t think it\'s possible to be more supportive than that. Not souping up the car is my opinion and nothing more. These boards are filled with people\'s opionions, every thread, every post. If you haven\'t gotten used to it by now then something\'s wrong. You said you didn\'t want to have an issue in public yet you keep bringing this stuff up. I suggest you stop because this is an issue that only I can have the last word in.
