I didn\'t make it to University this year. So lately I\'ve been very interested in different educational options. That\'s why I\'d like to hear what u guys study/studied after high school(/what ever it is in your country), if anything. Especially those who\'d some day like to work in the game/IT-industry or do already. But any info is fine!
Also your plans for future studies :)

I got a job doing Wide area networking and now all I do is read books on CISCO routers and networking.

Also I built my own web server so I have been reading a lot of books on system admin and stuff like that...

Sorry to hear you didn\'t get into Uni - how does the education system work where you live? You can re-apply next year right?

I\'m doing a major in Cell and Molecular Biology with a minor in Environmental Science. I\'m also on the waiting list for medical school at the University of Western Ontario, so I\'m keeping my fingers crossed I get in - I would like to be a doctor, but if things don\'t work out I\'ll finish my degrees, reapply to medicine or dentistry, and if that still doesn\'t pan out I\'ll go into research. I\'m in my third year of a four year programme.

I would have loved to have done something in computer science but I can\'t do programming to save my life - I took a 1st year Comp sci course as an elective and I was lost - my gf ended up doing more than 1/2 of my assignments! She\'s in Software Engineering, hopefully she does well so I don\'t have to study - I can just be a \'house-husband\' ;)

Peace to you, man. Sheesh. I still don\'t know what I wanna do after high school (I\'m 17). I have a digital imaging and 3D Graphics class coming up this year. I\'ve been getting into a lot of things. I also think that being a doctor would be awesome. I don\'t know...I guess I have a lot of thinking to do. I still have a lot of high school left, though (I\'m a Junior).

Well im not sure what I want to do job wise. Something in computing I guess since I like that sort of thing. So Computer Science is a good degree for me as its very open ended. Also you can change courses at the end of the first year because the other courses share a common first year. This means if I wanted to become a software engineer I could change to that degree. Although with Computer Science I could probably do that anyway. So I just got to make my mind up what I want to do whilst doing the degree.

I\'m attending the University of Georgia at Athens.  I\'m a computer science major planning on becoming a game programmer (for PS3 :))!  Currently I\'m finnishing off my core requirements.  I\'ve been in college since the summer of \'00 and plan on graduating a semester early.  UGA offers all the corses I need as outlined by many programming companies for PS.  I\'m also getting in the businness classes I need in order to have the upper hand in climbing the corporate ladder.

My only class I have right now is Classical Mythology (you know, Zeus, Heracles, etc.).  By the time I graduate SONY should be starting up programming for PS3.  I can\'t wait.

Thanks for all the answers :)

And I\'m sorry Joyda :) I hated school too. But it has been a bit different now that I finished our precious *lukio*. I get to choose what I want to study, not those useless things u just have to do in *peruskoulu* like physical education or chemistry, such things that I am not the least bit interested of. Now that I\'ve been lounging at home all spring studying actually sounds tempting to me. Come fall, I\'ll go on a Japanese course. Languages have always been a favorite of mine. I see it like, well I didn\'t get to university, at least I\'ll have something to study! Instead of sitting home useless till my brain falls out unneeded.

Troglodyte, I\'m very interested in classical mythology too :) I read it just for fun, I think those stories are cool.

And yeah, I can reapply next spring. Actually it\'s quite good that I didn\'t make it. I guess it would have been what u english speakers call Computer Science. I\'ve realized it\'s not necessarily for me. I want to do something creative. I\'m planning to study multimedia or such.

I knew my trade before I went to college, so I took a year off from school and got a job doing Web/Programming/DB stuff for a startup. I had luck in getting this job though, because this woman from school hooked me up. It is sad that a lot of people just look at a piece of paper where you went to school. They don\'t hire you for your knowledge. (Just my experience)
I was so bored in College, I told my Human Resource teacher to F..k-off and skipped the whole semester. :D

What ever you do, make sure you will enjoy it in the future, if a job don\'t feel like work, then you have hit pay-dirt. :D

I want to start taking collage this fall, but even after this long I really don\'t know what I want to do with the rest of my life. I figure for the short term, it\'d be nice to certified in both Windows and Linux troubleshooting so that I can work independantly for buisness looking to set up their new systems or need something fixed. I would also like to take a course in Small Buisness management and eventually open up my own videogame trader shop locally. (Seein as how my only competition would be almost no competition at all.. the dudes smoke up all their profit)

Or maybe I\'ll just get a cushy gov\'t job working for the USDA and take a few speciallized HACCP courses to get me through.
