Final Fantasy Takes 4 Billion Yen Production Costs:

According to The Magic Box, The Japanese newspaper Yomiuri has reported that Squaresoft has spent 4 billion yen to develop their highly anticipated Final Fantasy X. On the flipside, Squaresoft plans to ship and sell 2 million copies on day one, which would total 17.6 billion yen in profit to Squaresoft.

We\'ll find out how well the most anticipated Japanese title of the summer sells when it hits Japanese retail on July 19th.

If you wait 6 months, we\'ll have to wait 6 years! :D

Hmm 2 million copies on day one. Bit optermistic. Could be done though. I don\'t think they will reach 2 million in the first day though.

I think they will exceed thier mark. If only half of the PS2 owners in Japan bought it it owuld eseally reach the 2 million.

well i dont doubt that it  will, man, square will get a ton of money from final fantasy X.......

that is amazing, the japenese areso exited about this game, it is what they play  all the time,  remember the ps2 launch? imagine if 3/4 of the people in japan that bought a ps2 bought FFX, that would cause what we call a "shortage" :D

Didn\'t FF9 sell less than 2million TOTAL? with an installed base of over 25 million and only 2 million? Somehow, I don\'t think half of the PS2 users in Japan are gonna buy FF10 on day one or ever.

It has sold 4.6 million.
That is quite a feat considering it hasnt even been out a year yet in japan.

Total as in including US and Europe? Because I know it sold 2 million in Japan and around 1 million in US and Europe.

Anyways, I also think this is a completely rediculous number. Correct me if I\'m wrong but the PS2 hardware sales in Japan haven\'t reached 5 million yet? Well how do they expect to sell half of their userbase on the first day? It doesn\'t make sense,especially since the FF is losing it\'s popularity(just like every other series in existence so no flames on that comment). Square is on dope IMO.

It only sold 2 million in Japan, which is what we are talking about. Yes, it IS losing it\'s popularity and NO, it wont sell 2 million it\'s first day or whoever calls it can have my old gameboy :)

Yeah now i\'ve read all that I definatly doubt theres no chance of them getting 2 million copies in the FIRST DAY. Prehaps after a long period of time or something.

Along with the 2 Million copies they are shipping another 500K of new PS2 to all the vid-game stores, because as we all know FF is a system seller. :D

FFX cost $32 030 237 to make..

They are planning to make $140 933 041 the fist day..

Pretty impressive.. (if they can do it, that is!)
