So, my friend and I went to buy some carpet for our dorm room in August. It\'s a couple inches smaller than 10x20. Office Depot has a deal on 10x10 carpets at $20 a pop. But we wanted to go see if we could find a single piece of carpet for under $50.
First stop: Sonny\'s Carpet.
We were greeted by who I assume is Sonny\'s wife. A lady in her 60\'s, she showed us the "remnants," none bigger than 7x8. So we talked new carpet, cheapest was $0.44 SqFt! (That\'s $88!)
We said we\'d come back later. . . we lied.
Second Stop thru Fourth Stop:
Just a bunch of places along the way that we thought might have carpet. They didn\'t.
Fifth Stop: Cici\'s Pizza.
We were hungry, and a $4.00 pizza buffet is hard to turn down!
Sixth Stop: Swinford\'s Carpet (Swinford = swindel???)
Again we were meeted by the Mrs. She got out a calculator first and told us that she couldn\'t go below $150. She told us of Dalton\'s Carpet, and we left.
Seventh Stop: Dalton\'s Carpet.
Well, since it\'s named after Dalton, GA, the carpet capital of the world, we thought we would have to find something! We actally started haggling with the salesman. The best he could do was a remnant, 9x18 for $50 cash. That\'s the best so far, but we\'d be happier with the two 10x10\'s over at Office Depot. No sale.
Eighth Stop: Home.
I give up. I\'m going with the Office Depot 2 10x10 deal. I\'ll just make sure to avoid tripping over the seam. At least I know it\'s the best deal around.
That\'s my story and I\'m stickin\' to it.
