The "new" Great Debate? Please Read!
« on: July 26, 2001, 09:19:33 PM »
Last week there was a thread about a "great debate" that would take place. For those of you that didn\'t read the thread, I\'ll try to summerize.

This "great debate" was goin\' to take place on another server - hosted by someone else. There was goin\' to be three teams, of three, that would represent their favorite forum and console. For example, MSXBOX would have three people from their forum represent them, PSX2Central would have three people also and then someone for Nintendo. Sadly, the debate was canceled and no one got to have any fun.

So, I was thinking that since the forum is going through somewhat of a "dry spell" we could arrange our own "great debate" except we wouldn\'t limit it to games and we could change the rules around alittle.

My original plan was to have two teams. Team A and Team B. Three people would be selected for each team. Then the teams would agree on a subject and have a set amount of time to debate the subject. After the time was over, the people who did not debate in the subject would vote to see who won the "great debate".  Afterwards, the teams would switch, new people would debate and it would continue like that. That way, everyone who wanted to could end up debating and everyone would also end up voting. The subject would natrually change along with the teams. The subjet would not limited to games either. We could debate things such as the laws, moral issues, movies , music and of course games. ;)

Of course, this was just an idea I pose. Gohan also had his own idea for this.

Here was his idea\'s.
Quote
Why don\'t we have small teams of three that are always together and we compete to find out who is the best team. We could also do an individual debate to find out who the best debator is.

Both excellent idea\'s also.

So here is what I want you to do, if you don\'t mind. First, vote if you like the idea of a \'debate game\' on the forum, via the POLL I will post along with this thread. Then, explain which idea you like the most.  If it gathers enough positive attenion we will work on the finals of each thing and how it will work. Then maybe we could spice up the forum alittle bit.;)

Of course, this would also require full MOD/Admin support, so please Mods/Admin\'s tune in with your opinions also.

I think that the topic should be decided first, then we can argue a bit about who should be on what side of the issue.  I like the idea that we continually rotate team members so that we\'re never "stuck" with anyone and we can all vote fairly.

This will be cool!  We\'ll show those other guys how a debate really should run!

Whatever way the debate is setup, I\'l gladly participate.   I\'ve been pretty bored lately and I need something to do. On one condition though... I want to be on bobbo\'s team :D

i think we should have one. but as said before, it shouldnt be limited to games and consoles. it should be a nice debate, and i think that there should be MANY teams. but less than 10.

each team could choose their own name, and i think 3-5 per team.

the reason why i think having more teams would be fun is because more people could participate. but i also think that the "older" members ( the regulars) should be able to be in the debate, not just the debaters themselves.

that way, it would be plenty intersting.

it sounds like a great idea LIC, ill support it all the way.

Well I guess we wouldn\'t if the debate topic was "the best quality of games on sega saturn". You would totally kick arse in that debate:laughing:
